This question is no sillier than so many others on here so why not answer the question or just ignor it.
I spent maybe $400. but most of my tickets were comps. so $400.

Posted: 12/25/14 at 6:58amI don't get the harsh reaction to a simple question that some may find interesting. I come to NYC four times a year for the theatre trips, buying discounted tickets almost exclusively and usually seeing five shows in three days. In 2014, doing so cost me approximately $1500 for the tickets. I'm a LCT member so that helps a bit.

I too think this is an excellent question. My goal was to cut back on my theater spending in 2014, and I did, a bit. I spent $2,650, as opposed to $3,400 in 2013. I cut down on the number of shows, too: 94 in 2014 (100 in 2013). The average price per show for 2014 is $28.
I tried to save money by using Theatermania Gold Club more often. I also buy through TDF, and i'm a member of the Public. I try my hand at ticket lotteries (I won for On the Town last week!) and I do rush when possible.
Seeing Hedwig and the Angry Inch three times in 2014 hurt my bottom line. I thought it would be fun to see all the Hedwigs, and it was, but I couldn't get good discounts. Once I used TKTS, but paid full price for the other two. And yes, I do have a ticket to see John Cameron MItchell in 2015! It's a splurge.

No one had a harsh reaction, just a bit dumbfounded. Does spending more mean you live theater more? Does spending less mean you are try dedicated?
While personally it might mean something to you, I don't see the point in publishing the it or reading others. It has no meaning.

Posted: 12/25/14 at 11:22amExactly, DramaMama. It seems like nothing more than an excuse to brag to about how much one has spent on theater. I felt the same way last year. I don't add up what I've spent and I don't care what others have spent. But to each their own.

To be fair, Dramamama always does this. She always seems to have the same passive aggressive tone on all her posts. It's sort of her gimmick.

To be honest, I'm not really interested in the total a person spends but more the average cost per ticket. I always check the average ticket costs for shows when buying just to see if I'm getting a good deal or should be on the look out for one... and I think the average price kind of shows a good place of what theatre go-ers are willing to pay. If I get a chance to this weekend, I'm going to figure out the average so I can try to plan ahead for 2015

Posted: 12/25/14 at 8:04pm29 Broadway shows for $723 for an average of $24.93. 8 shows were comped, so the average on paid shows is $34.43. The most expensive ticket purchased was a rear mezzanine seat for HEDWIG at $69 with a discount code.

Oh my goodness... I am jealous and dumbfounded at the same time! I so absolutely wish I could afford this. I worked in theater until I got sick, so got my kicks at work. Since then I can barely afford to go to the theater but try and get bargains where I can (eg Phantom on Broadway - in the absolute gods, 1 row from the top!!! - for $25 - still worth going, without a doubt)...
I am incredibly green with envy!!
Are you a successful entrepreneur or something lol, with a crazy-hot product that allows you to spend a fortune going out?
