Ok..I just read on socialitelife.com that Grease will be remade. I am praying to God this is NOT true.
According to socialitelife.com’s sources, Grease is going to be remade with Jessica Simpson as Sandy and Michelle Pfeiffer as the School Principal. Pfeiffer thinks it's a good idea.
Michelle said: "It's a great idea and I hear they would like to get Jessica Simpson for the role of Sandy, she would be good. I would love to play the school principal. She is fun and has some great put-down lines. I think I would like the part now that I have been asked."
Michelle regretted taking the part of Stephanie Zinone in 'Grease 2' and believes it set her career back 10 years.
The 'Hairspray' star is quoted as saying, "I hated that film with a vengeance and could not believe how bad it was. At the time, I was young and didn't know any better.”

The whole things reeks of bullsh*t, up to and including the inane way Pfeiffer is purported to have spoken. "She is fun and has some great put-down lines. I think I would like the part now that I have been asked."

Yes, it's true. And Zac Efron will play Danny opposite Jessica.
Yep... My BS meter went off too.
Years ago, I'd heard of another sequel with Justin Timberlake and Britney Trash. Didn't happen, and hopefully this won't either.
Oh, I wouldn't be surprised if GREASE were remade at some point. Cash Cow. But this story doesn't seem authentic, I agree.
At one point (that most of know) Grease 3 was going to be made and that never happened or come to surface either!

If this doesn't get made, does it mean that God answers prayers?
Simpson could never play the virginal side of Sandy. Effron would be great, but he'd make her look like a 30 year old highschooler if they were both cast.

It seemed like bullsh*t but I wasn't sure...
I already has been:
Only without the smoking
The sex
and the talent:
It's called: High School Musical
[however, it's my guilty pleasure!] =)
They could make a gay version called Grease. Oh wait, wrong message board.
I hope it is not true. I dont think the article or quotes are true. Michelle would never sound that inarticulate.
Also, if they remake it, Jessica Simpson is too old. Ashlee would make a better Sandy.
I say cast Kerry Butler and Cheyenne if you remake the film. They would be amazing and it would be the same vibe as the original Grease-having thirty somethings play the leads. :)
Also, Leslie Kritzer as Rizzo is a must.

Why do people compare HSM to Grease? You might as well compare Oliver to Sweeney Todd.

Because they have a similar youthful appeal.
In it's day, Grease was HSM.
Only much better.

Zac was supposed to do a remake of Footloose but I hadn't heard anything about Grease.

Wow, not only does Grease not need to be remade, but The Simpsons should get their untalented mitts off anything involving acting, singing, or dancing. I know Grease gets a lot of flack, but it is a million times better than HSM and always will be.
How about Corey Feldman and Christina Applegate?

No remake. Please. The movie is Great.
Why do people compare HSM to Grease?
Probably because they are both set in high schools and the fact that the opening number of High School Musical is staged and written almost as a carbon copy of Summer Lovin', but without the immediate sexual overtones.
WHY?

Grease 2 could NOT have set Pfeiffer's career back ten years. It was her first lead role, and she went on to be a big star. Her next movie was Scarface.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, Jon.
