I'd say this has a shot at 4 nominations, but really no shot at winning. I could see Lead Actress, Featured Actress (Tyne) Featured Actor (Grisetti) and Director (DHP). Realistically though, I think they'll be lucky to get any nominations.

"Lord Brantleys review should be fun."

It seems to me Brantley can't win. People say that he hates everything and then when he loves shows like "Matilda" and "On The Town", people can't stand him gushing over the show.

"In what review does Lisa Howard get substantial mention that would "guarantee" her a Tony nomination? While I'm a big fan of Howard's, I just don't think it's going to happen for her (or anyone) with this show. If anyone, Daly seems the most likely. "

Um... SEVERAL of them. Did you actually read them fully?

I don't have a dog in this fight about whether the show will be a success or not. But, you could have an ad like this:

Associated Press: "..a frequently funny satire of wedding mishaps...smartly staged.."It Shoulda Been You" is worth snagging an invitation to..

The Hollywood Reporter: ...It Shoulda Been You, which plays like vintage dinner theater infused with a Borscht Belt sensibility. That it nonetheless manages to be truly amusing is a testament to the talent both on and offstage:

, Variety: "It Shoulda Been You" is awfully funny

USA Today: ...this Broadway season's freshest and funniest to date.

NBC New York: Broadway's so-far stuffy spring season needed to loosen up, and relief arrives with the campy ensemble comedy "It Shoulda Been You".. this cast is probably as close to a dream team for a wedding comedy as you can get...

New York Post: a terrific ensemble, led by Tyne Daly and Harriet Harris as warring mothers. These talented, hard-working actors are a joy to watch

TheWrap: Brian Hargrove's witty, twist-filled book about a mixed-up wedding party serves as the playground for a superb ensemble that knows precisely what to do with every zinger they're given. And whenever the jokes are in short supply -- which isn't often -- director David Hyde Pierce makes sure there's a visual gag to fill the space.

The Star-Ledger: The new musical "It Shoulda Been You" takes the wedding day setup that fuels so many romantic comedies, but offers a twist that livens up the proceedings.

While we're all waiting on Lord Brantley, does anybody else miss StageGrade?

"In what review does Lisa Howard get substantial mention that would "guarantee" her a Tony nomination? While I'm a big fan of Howard's, I just don't think it's going to happen for her (or anyone) with this show. If anyone, Daly seems the most likely. "

In the Wall Street Journal, which was otherwise a pan: "The cast, fortunately, is excellent, with Lisa Howard giving a star-is-born performance as Jenny Steinberg, the plus-size 30-something good-egg sister who has spent a lifetime resenting her slender, soon-to-be-married sibling (Sierra Boggess). Not only is Ms. Howard warm and engaging, but she’s a first-class singer to boot."

Hollywood Reporter: "But it does provide the opportunity for some of the performers to shine, especially Howard, whose powerfully sung rendition of "Jenny's Blues" is an undeniable highlight."

AP: "Lisa Howard gives a brave, poignant performance as a plus-size, single woman who is quietly resentful of always being treated as a hopeless failure. She pours her heart out in the wistful song "Beautiful" and the audience is truly rooting for her by the time she belts out a soulful anthem, "Jenny's Blues.""

I could keep going, but I take it you can read for yourself.

I don't believe any of these comments warrant a "guarantee" of a Tony nom, especially considering the competition. Yes, it definitely gives her more of an edge, something that most people did not originally expect, but to say it's a guarantee is an overstatement.

Yes. you know Ken Davenport killed it right? Ken Davenport killed StageGrade.

Not to sidetrack the main point of this thread, but after Chita, Kelli, and Kristin, there are still two (or more) spots to be filled. Hudgens is out as are (presumably) all of the women from closed shows. Those last two spots are going to some combo of Howard, Laura Michelle Kelly, Beth Malone, and Leanne Cope. Given her Broadway vet status and positive reviews tonight, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet. I expect to see her and Malone take those two spots.

Is he going to bring it back? Or are there any similar sites? The closest thing I've been able to find to it is a Facebook page called the Broadway Beat, but it just started so it doesn't have grades for most of this season.

That's if they leave her in the leading slot, yes. Even so, I believe Malone is a definite at this point and Kelly is right there behind her. As I said, I'm a huge Howard fan, I just find it hard to believe that any of the nominators will want to reward anything from this show. If Howard lands in supporting (definitely possible as Harris, Daly, and Howard are all above the title), she has an even lesser of a chance thanks to the power of the incredible Fun Home ladies.

But we shall see! I would by no means be disappointed if Howard did take it!

There's no way the producers would be dumb enough to leave Tyne in the leading category. If anyone has a shot at taking a spot from one of the Fun Home girls, it's Tyne due to her name and reputation. She's got a much better shot in that category than Howard. And why do you feel the nominators wouldn't want to reward this show with any nominations? It's a VERY Broadway community type of show. The cast is filled with people who have a lot of good relationships with others in the community. And a lot of audience members ARE enjoying themselves, so what's to say the nominators won't? I get not awarding it a Best Score or Best Musical slot, but I don't think we should be discounting these actors so quickly.

"Care to elaborate on the Davenport/StageGrade mention?"

Go to stagegrade right now. It redirects to DidHeLikeIt.com. He owns that site. He bought it so he could kill his competition.

I know Brantley isn't the most beloved here, but man - I really do enjoy a good Brantley panning.
