It is a good song. And so appropriate in times such as this, sadly.
My prediction is that she doesn't perform but does come out for a curtain call...(emm, so sad noone really seems to care Joey is leaving tomorrow as well). It's sad but these things happen and I'm sure she'll heal fast and find the humor in it after a while. Not that it's funny, but the timing is so eerie it's almost comical. Either way, she has had a great run, great support, and now a crazy story to tell. My question is...how is Shoshana? God, imagine being in her shoes! I heard she is amazing so anyone that saw her tonight or sometime before, please let us know how she does and I really hope everyone supports her because it must not feel too good to know people will be pissed you're not Idina.
Please make sure yall say a prayer for her.
Wow where did that yall come from? I was raised in New York. LOL.

what you said about Joey, that's what I am saying about Hunter!
I read this an hour ago and I haven't been able to post until now. I actually had a panic attack. I am a hard core Wicked/Idina "freak," but my main concern is Idina. The person who's responsible for this deserves to be buried alive. It would be beyond heartbreaking if Idina didn't have a last show; have closure. Unfortunately I have a gut feeling that she won't be on tomorrow. I really hope I'm wrong. But her health absolutely comes first. I'm not a religious person and I don't pray, but I am praying for Idina tonight and tomorrow. If Shoshana goes on tomorrow, I wish her the best. Updated On: 1/8/05 at 11:49 PM

I'm not saying this is necessarily true, but I think all other's final performances are overshadowed by Ms. Menzel's. But the show and the Tony both had everything to do with it.
FYI: The BWW article has been updated.

Sorry folks. It doesn't look good for you ticket holders.
Another thing...sure there will definitley be many, many unhappy disapointed fans if Idina doesn't perform (which sadly it doesn't seem like she will be) but just think about how IDINA feels. It's no secret to her that the majority of the people there probably are there to see her final performance, she probably feels horrible about that. It's a shame that this happeened to happen the day before her final performance.
I feel awful for her. I'm sure she's feeling guilty about letting down her fans. That's the last thing she should be thinking about now.

Not lookin good for tomorrow, but maybe things will change. Ya never know. As I said, I am upset I wont see her but I have been dying to see Shosh and my main concern is her health. I feel too awful to put it into words.

Wow.
Even though the timing is very funny, there is no excuse for Idina missing tomorrows performance and letting people down even though it is funny I think about the people who paid a fortune on ebay. That ought to teach them a lesson. Unless the performance is cancelled, there is no guarantee the actors will be there.
I agree with what everyone's been saying about giving Shoshana and the cast a HUGE standing ovation tomorrow; it looks like Idina may make a curtin call, which would be worth the price of my tickets alone.
So, I'm on the mainpage of BWW and I read the sample of the article about Idina and I thought to myself, "I bet there's a thread with a million posts on this already". And sure enough, I'm response number 286.
I do feel really bad though. That really has to be absolutely awful to not be able to perform your last show. I wish her well, but whatever happens, happens.
THAT IS SCARY STUFF. I pray that Idina is healing quickly. If I were her, I would not go on at all tomorrow because it's too freaky. Didn't Margaret Hamilton get injured in the trap door on the movie set too? What the heck. She should just stay home and rest tomorrow. And her fans should support that.
I didn't mean it literally when I said he should be buried alive. And what the hell do you mean, there's no excuse? Idina, like any other human being, has the right to take care of herself.
Oh my God that's right! Margaret Hamilton did get injured, something to do with the trapdoor I think(?) That's really weird.
My first reaction when I saw the title of this post for the first time was at first speechless and then I thought that someone had come to the theater and hurt her or something had happened with the death threats. I was in a way, relieved to find out that someone had not hurt her intentinally but I still feel HORRIBLE. The Margaret Hamilton incident's similiarity is just creepy!
"there is no excuse for Idina missing tomorrows performance "
That is a truly heartless thing to say!! She may have broken her ribs! Do you have no compassion!?!?
I'm not saying Idina should be burned at the stake if she doesn't go on tomorrow. I'm saying she should only even consider skipping if her physician foreces her to.

bronxboundexpress please just go away. Your posts do nothing but spread angst and annoyance. Obviously my last post to you didn't get it into your head that this thread is about the well-being of Idina, not about the 'misfortune' of the ticketholders for tomorrows show.
If you want to talk about tomorrows show, talk about the misery that Idina must be going through, knowing that she isn't going to be able to get all made up in green that one last time. As a performer myself, the last show is one of the best, and missing it must be much more painful for her than for any audience member.
So please, refocus your posts onto what matters (Idina herself and her health) or go away.
What if she falls again? She obviously wont have the energy to run around the stage and sing and act up to par. If I were her and I was NOT feeling well, I would not go. I mean, the audience doesnt want her last performance to be crap and SHE certainally does NOT want to be in pain the whole show for the last time she'll ever do it. Final performances are not meant to be literally painful. You should be able to give it your all, not limp around the stage, holding your rib or whatever. I totally agree with her choice if she decides she is too hurt. Its up to her.

I have several friends who have hurt (as in broken and bruised) their ribs, and it hurts. A lot. Especially on the day after it occured. And I am also a singer, and let me tell you that singing (especially belting) requires a lot of work from the diaphram and ribs, which means that she would be placing a lot of stress on a recently injured part of her body. Health wise, she should not go on. Then she has to run around acting (as someone wisely pointed out), which will hurt her ribs some more. And, ON TOP OF ALL THIS, she gets to go to Rent this week and start working immediatly on the songs, because they are going to be recording the music soon. So, realistically, she is not going to be on tomorrow.
And we should not forget shoshana bean, who must be feeling awkward and horrible about taking over for Idina on her big night. So my best wishes to Idina AND Shoshana, may tomorrow go well (and may the fans be understanding), and I hope for a speedy recovery for Idina and a great run for Shoshana.

I am actually speechless. Idina Menzel is one of the most talented people on Broadway to many people, and watching or reading about her going down is truly one of the worst things to happen for theater. I loved Idina, and she made me love Wicked and actually forever changed my life.
I will be praying for her, with all my heart and soul tonight. I actually have an audition tomorrow at 2 pm, rest assured I'll be giving it my all for the cast of Wicked, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Shoshana Bean and above all, Idina. I hope deep within my heart that there is some way Idina will go on stage tomorrow.
I'm sure tomorrow will be especially hard. I can almost imagine if Idina didn't go on. JLT will have the worst time trying to keep it together... I know I would. "For Good" will be emotionally driven and very hard to get through for both JLT and Shoshana. I could see moments where one might choke up during not so much of a sad scene (Defying Gravity could possibly be one of the biggest tear jerkers of the night, only because Idina won't be up there). I pray that Idina will go one tomorrow, but if she may not, I hope she gets to have a final curtain call.
And if that does not happen, which I hope to heaven it will, I had this mental picture a minute ago that actually turned into a little emotional scene. You would have the cast come out for the curtain call and take their bows, Shoshana with the Elphaba hat & broom in hand. Her and JLT would take their bows, but after, Shoshana would step forward and place the hat and broom mid-stage and the rest of the cast would step back. Orchestra plays final chorus of Defying Gravity as the crowd applauds and cherishes the symbolism of Idina Menzel, giving her respects... made me tear at the thought. But I am only saying that if worse came to worse.
I sincerely hope with every breath that Idina will recover and be able to go onstage.

To somewhat add onto my last post, the choice is up to Idina, and as a professional, she knows what her body can take better than anyone else. If she chooses to go onstage, she will have the best wishes and prayers and hopes etc. for all her fans (including myself).
And I would like to say that that was a very nice post Dare2DefyGravity, *applause* = )
