Hey guys, just a few questions on In The Heights.
I finally decided to start listening to check the show out and I got the demo recording. I was looking on wikipedia and the song 'Hear Me Out' is not listed. Is it no longer in the show? If so, that's a shame because I loved it.
Second, do you think it is necessary to purchase tickets before hand? I am really enjoy everything I've heard from the show, and I am going to see it during senior week. None of the friends that I am going with actually want to see the show(instead prefering to see Mary Poppins), so I am fairly certain that I'll be going alone. I wanted to know if I would be able to just easily get one at TKTS or if I would have to buy before hand.
Thanks!

The song was indeed dropped from the show, and most of the songs from the demo are *very* different now. Go to the official website, and you can hear 2 songs from the cast recording ("96,000" and "When You're Home")
I don't think you need to purchase tickets beforehand. I mean, I guess it depends on what type of seats you're looking for. But even if you try for lottery and lose, you can still buy $31 seats right before the performance. There may be a boost if the show ends up winning a slew of Tonys (which it very well might), but at the moment, it's not selling out, and always available on TKTS.
Still, there are plenty of decent discount codes you could use (broadwaybox.com), if you want to be 100% sure.
Hope that helps :)
Ah, okay cool. It sucks that they would cut that song, but I really like what I hear on the website.
I'm excited to see it. I'm going to try to convince some of my friends to ditch Mary Poppins and hit In The Heights up.
I like the clips on the website! Can't wait for the recording!
I'd hate to say it, but it's not always on TKTS. I don't see it on there during the weekends... and In the Heights has been doing pretty well recently, so they don't need to be on TKTS. Obviously not selling out 100%, but good enough to be making money. If you have a discount code, definitely bring it to the box office and buy tickets... I'm not sure when your going, and that could impact the day and if it will be on TKTS. After the Tonys, I don't think they'll be on TKTS a lot.
But definitely have fun seeing the show!
Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that the show hasn't been doing well. It has. It's been a tough month for *all* shows, but ITH has held its own, and is selling very well. The show has been on TKTS every time I've passed by, and there are always tickets available at the B.O. But it's going to get a huge bump after the Tonys, and during the summer. So if you really want to see it (and I highly recommend it to everyone), then go with a discount code. :)
I'm fairly certain it wasn't on TKTS when I saw the show, but that was the first weekend of April, which was less than a month after opening night.
When I was lnving in NY, I rarely saw it at the tkts booth in march and april. I would try the lotto on a weekday.

Yea, they usually offer tickets for $31.50 (what I bought when I saw it) and they were Orchestra seats, which surprised me. Row K, I believe, idr. But once the show started, I realized that had I won the lottery and been sitting in the front row, I would've spent most of the time turning my head from one shoulder to the other, as front row seats tend to require. If you can, get the 31.50 tickets, but of course it's just my opinion. Also my opinion, if you can, see both Mary Poppins and In The Heights.
I did lotto last week and they did NOT offer discounts to those who lost.

Oh, I thought they did it all the time but just made it seem that they didn't. That's what somebody in line said. Maybe, though, even if they don't offer it you could still try and ask where their $31.50 tickets are. Couldn't hurt.
They do sell $31.50 seats in the rear mezzanine, but those sell out fast.
The seats that they usually have after the lotto are the 75 dollar front/middle MEZZ seats. The 31 dollar rear Mezz seats can be bought in advance online at ticketmaster and so they aren't always there day of the show. And, I pass by the TKTS booth a lot and I have never seen it on there.
I would agree with what has been said. It is doing well and holding its own but it hasn't needed to make use of the TKTS booth and all the times I have seen it the theatre looks either filled up or close to it.
If you want to talk about new musicals that are on the TKTS booth I would say talk about Passing Strange. That show is always up there every time I go passed it.
