Will also be a terrible shame that many of our great men will also no longer be with us. It will truly be an end of an era, and I'm not looking forward to it.

We might lose you first, dear. Ask not for whom the bell tolls.

Presumably because someone in the other thread said "Now do the men."

I hate to say it, but this made the whole thread worthwhile. I just spent several minutes choking back (much-needed) laughter at work.
Thank you, blug (but not binau).

Speculating on actors’ deaths, regardless of age, is truly bizarre.

I wonder if in the next 10-15 years if the OP will also be dead?
We have had some stupid posts on here over the years and this ranks right up there.

I started seeing shows in the mid-sixties. That means that I never got to see Judy Holliday or Gertrude Lawrence or Ezio Pinza or Alfred Drake in a musical or Laurette Taylor or Katherine Cornell or Claudia MacNeil or Lunt and Fontanne or Marlon Brando or most of Mary Martin's work (I did get to see I Do! I Do!) or prime Ethel Merman (I saw her in a tired revival of Annie Get Your Gun and in Hello! Dolly) or most of Shirley Booth's work (I did see Look to the Lilies, a mega-flop) or Frederic March or Orson Welles or Jose Ferrer or Maurice Evans or Paul Muni or Ina Claire and many many others.
As long as there is theatre, there will be new great new actors and actresses who will take their places. I am thinking of people like Jonathan Groff and Daniel Radcliffe and Joshua Henry and Lea Michelle and Aaron Tveit and Josh Groban and Jasmine Amy Rogers and Joy Woods and Kara Young and Carrie Coons and Nicholas Christopher and Jeremy Jordan and Cole Escola and Sam Tutty and Laura Donnelly (I think she is going to be one of the greats).
I think there a some realities that have changed: first, is that we are rarely going to see many of these people as frequently as we have in the past because they have more opportunities to work in other media than in the past (I am thinking specifically of the ongoing impact of streaming and how many stage actors we see leave for streaming or appear so regularly that it limits their availability for theatre). Secondly, we are going to see fewer new musicals with large casts, so opportunities are not going to be as easy (I am thinking that I really miss seeing Jessie Mueller in a new musical or even a revival...there just are not enough to go around).

‘Always?’ Is there any substance to that comment or is that just a childish thing people say just because? Believing that this forum is full of irrationality is not ‘playing the victim’, ultimately you are the victims of this.
