It's a standard practice to lower keys, but in this case the voice is indisputably connected to the character. Princesses are sopranos or mezzos, I doubt Disney would change the image of their princess which they have so classically created and firmly established in the popular conscience.

She actually has kind of received a new look already.

She's looking gorgeous! That dress is stunning. It's a new look yet she remains looking classic.
She looks like a glittery ho'.
Whatever happened to class ...
I was never a fan of her original dress, it wasn't as spectacular as to say it was the work of a fairy Godmother.
I'd hit that.

She has also been seen in the parks and press events like this now.
"I was never a fan of her original dress, it wasn't as spectacular as to say it was the work of a fairy Godmother."
The New York Times actually thought that in the 1957 musical version with Julie Andrews, the main character was not wearing something that a Fairy Godmother would make.
"couldn't Cinderella have been dressed in a dreamlike ball gown of fantasy rather than a chic, form-fitting number?"
Here are articles that have mentioned Emma Stone possibly being in the film.

Ugh. That "new" Cinderella looks like she's about to get DP'd by frat guys at a kegger.
Well lets face it, compared to her fellow disney princesses she was never that attractive.

Here she is with her fellow Princesses and their new looks:
As I mentioned earlier I really liked the idea of Kate Winslet as the Baker's Wife. Here she is singing.

Why does Disney want the princesses to look like a bunch of Bratz dolls. Aurora and Belle especially look like the artists (whomever they are who've done these redesigns) wanted to be able to cast them in the animated version of Mean Girls.
Wow. I am so looking at this and thinking "Hey Big Spender"... which, considering it's Disney, would make sense......
Ariel looks stunning as usual, poor little snow white never grew up, and Belle is looking waaay too
flirty.
Mulan is NOT a princess!!! Why do they keep insisting she is one!!!
Kate would make a lovely baker's wife, but I don't think she's the kind of hot property Rob wants for this film.

I know that Cinema Blend said in January that Allison Janney was going to be a part of this movie, but she has been removed from IMDB. However, any member can add or edit it.

When I sent my cousin the video of Lea Salonga being honored a Disney Legend, she said I never knew Mulan was a Princess when did this happen? So, I asked someone at the Disney Store for her and they said Mulan was made an "honorary" Princess in the film when the Emperor gave her the crest. They also wanted to show girls that you don't have to be born into royalty or marry a prince to be considered a princess.
People are always making excuses for her, bottom line is she's not a princess she's just part of the princess franchise.
Salonga's other character, Jasmine, is the only one that looks exactly the same.
Winslet was actually my first thought when someone on this board mentioned an A-lister in talks for bakers wife. Second though was Scarlett Johansson. Anyways, here's more vids of Winslet singing.

I don't think there are any updates or information we already did not know in this article.

Why does Disney want the princesses to look like a bunch of Bratz dolls.
Exactly!
They all look like pouty, pre-teen prostitutes.
Why is that attractive? And it goes against every single one of their stories, turning them into nothing more than vapid shopping mall seductresses.
Really sad.
"They also wanted to show girls that you don't have to be born into royalty or marry a prince to be considered a princess."
Because they hadn't done that with Cinderella? She's aristocratic, but not royalty.
Rapunzel isn't a princess either, for that matter. Jasmine is the daughter of the Sultan, but in reality, is she considered a princess?
I wonder if the boys will get makeovers. Prince Eric is still my favorite, followed by Prince Phillip.

In Tangled Rapunzel is the daughter of a king and a queen, so yes, she is a princess. Jasmine is referred to multiple times throughout Aladdin as Princess Jasmine, so, again, as far as the marketing is concerned, there is no reason to say she is not a princess.
Yeah, Eric is the hottest Disney prince. But even though he's not Disney, Dimitri from ANASTASIA is the hottest cartoon character ever.

No, it's just a side effect of the syphilis.
