Believe I double checked and found it in more than one place online (trying to sort out if this is fake news or genuine). If this is false - please delete this thread.
James Nederlander donated $30,000 to Trump Victory campaign.
Talk about ironic that Hamilton is in a Nederlander theater.
Perhaps a strong message from the theater community needs to be brought to the attention of Mr James Nederlander?
You can search for his name -- and many others' -- here.

I posted this in the Hamilton thread the other day, but it got lost.
For Christ's sake.

He also donated to Hillary for America, Cory Booker, Barbara Boxer, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, and many others.
So, basically, this means nothing.

No, it doesn't. Just because you hugged three of your kids and smacked one in the face doesn't mean you didn't smack one in the face.

Also, I think you're conflating your Jameses. James L Nederlander, President of the Nederlander Organization, has donated big money to only Republican presidential candidates, and a few nominal donations to Democratic NY senators.
Good lord, is that where that "Facilities Fee" goes? More like "Fascism Fee," ammirite? AMMIRITE?
This is something the theater community needs to be talking about more: the fact that one of the major theater owners donated to a campaign that's so anathema to everything Broadway is about. It's disgusting.
I agree adamgreer. It actually makes me not want to go to a Nederlander theatre anymore. Anyone know who Jordan Roth was supporting? Or the Shuberts?
You can search for their names in the URL I pasted above.
Their results are more encouraging than the Nederlanders'.

So what can you do? Don't go to Nederlander theaters anymore? This is an outrageous request. And I'm sure the Nederlanders won't loose a wink of sleep over it. Good luck with that.

I think we should all grab our pitchforks and run him out of town.... This is America, what the hell is he thinking using his own money to make a choice. The audacity astounds me
I will never see another show in a Neederlander theatre again!
Your entertainment options would be pretty limited if you researched every donation made by every owner of every venue you want to see a show at. I think it's just something to be aware of.
If you don't want to patronize a place, that's understandable. I don't think anyone is doing so with the intention of hurting a mega-rich guy's pocketbook; it's more so they don't have that on their consciousness. Right?

@z5 I disagree that this is ignorance or being a moron. It is more so a surprising revelation that the employer of many in the Broadway community who are currently frightened and scared are in such a state due to the support of their employer endorsing someone to a prominent position that might do them harm. Additionally, it is also not ignorant if patrons are now educated and decide that they do not want to patronize someone who isn't in agreement with their beliefs. I did not say "boycott" - I just brought it up as a "wow...this is unfortunate and sad".

I think it's great we found a leader in the Broadway community who isn't a sheep
"Found." Ha! Like he hasn't been around.

Yes, what a refreshing surprise that a wealthy businessman is a Republican. Who'da thunk?

No one's going to do any harm! How funny that the famous liberal love and tolerance doesn't include people who don't agree with them.
He has donated to both sides. Rich people just donate to everyone and expect the same thing. That's why we got Trump and Sanders.

Jordan
was most definitely pro Hillary. The Jujamcyns hosted a Hillary fundraiser.
"And," I yet again screamed into the void, "You can search for their names in the link I provided earlier today."
To those of you who want to punish and blacklist someone because of a donation to a presidential candidate you don't agree with, one day you will realize that you are the liberal equivalent to the frightening people on the extreme right.

Why choose to patronize a business whose profits are recycled into oppression & hatred? It will be interesting to see how Mr Miranda & his producers proceed in their future dealings w the Nederlander Org. I hope he has the chutzpah to move Hamilton out.
I'm still hoping I wake up from this horrible dream...
