nomdeplume, go to johnlloydyoung.com and watch the video clip from the show. It will give you a good idea of John's performance. Not only will you hear that amazing voice, but you will see his acting, and look at the choreographed performance scenes. Compare him to the other three guys, his performance and movement are absolutely exquisite.
I have to say that in the hundreds of shows I've seen, I have NEVER seen an audience respond to a performer like the audience at Jersey Boys did. The show to come the closest would have to be Billy Elliot in London, and even at that, still not as amazing as JB. Go see the show! :)

Thanks for the tip, Erin, and at the risk of seeming archaic, I don't download the flash software on my computer because I do not want everything to start moving around uncontrollably on my computer like advertisements, which happens when you do that, so I am not able to see the good stuff like that little clip yet as I don't know how to disable that software afterward.
I would love to see it. (Maybe I will on some other computer.)

nom, do you mean pop-ups? You can disable them quite easily by clicking on the Tools button at the top of your screen. If that's not what you mean, I apologize. :) I haven't had any problem with having the flash software on my computer.

No, not pop-ups.
It's the motion in the ads, when they move around. It distracts my eyes and I don't like it. By not having the flash software the ads either stay still or do not even show up on my computer. I do miss some things, though, because some websites require you to have the flash software to enter and view them, which is annoying.

Ah, ok, I think I understand what you mean. I'm sorry you can't see the clip, though! :)

So does it not matter if JLY isn't singing the high notes, it's people backstage? I'm just trying to gauge the sentiment.
yes he is singing all the high notes, I checked in to it.
I would not be surprised if Bob Martin swept in and took the Tony. Now *that* my friends would be an upset. His performance is like none of the others, but is so unique and special. Go Bob! You have my vote!

Can you imagine.
From Jersey yet, Bog.
Really.
I mean I don't even have flash on my computer and I knew about him.
The role played by JLY must surely be one of the most demanding ever faced by a broadway leading man. He sings EVERY note of over twenty songs-often in pitch perfect falsetto. He has about eight solo numbers and his acting is really his greatest strength. There are only a few scenes in which he does not participate. Add to this mix the fact that this show moves at a very rapid pace. His performance is astounding.

I don;t think Reidel had a huge affect yesterday with that article published. Thank God!
John has every right to be upset about it.
Reidel can be such a monster. Act or not sometimes I wish he would stop the negative caca. I know it is his thing but it is not helpful. I will never forget how he tortured Bernadette.
John gives an incredible performance and does not deserve this poor treatment.
Reidel needs a new act. It IS GETTING REALLY TIRING.
Why can't Reidel use his power for good? He is a smart man and a talented writer. I am so sick of it.
Time for Susan to smack him in the head.
(In response to Noms comment below. I agree. People can be jealous of the underdog or overnight success. They will do whatever it takes to mock, belittle and humiliate them even if they don't deserve it)

John must understand that great deeds attract envy from small minds and characters.
Greater souls have room for love, joy and admiration.
Thoughts on the nature of what makes his performance so enviable?

"great deeds?" Isn't that phrase generally used to describe the works of a Mother Teresa or a Jonas Salk?
"yes he is singing all the high notes, I checked in to it."
Do tell! I'd like to hear what you found out.
"but his girl friend said he doing better now."
Can't she tell us that herself?
Nom,
You are right. Additionally, most of us love you, John!
John gives the performance of a lifetime and I am rooting for him. I am also rooting for Bob Martin who gives the most hilarious performance this year in The Drowsy Chaperone.
I hope Bob wins for the writing and John wins best actor.
(Or if Bob Martin could tie with JLY, that would be great)
I loved both of them. If I had to pick one over the other it would be John as it is a much more difficult part.
But, I love Bob Martin in the Drowsy Chaperone.

-- HUH? Didn't he even say it's easier to sing in falsetto.
I don't think he will win the tony. It will be a close race but Cerveris will come on top.
in case anyone is going to the show tonight, I'm in line for the matinee and john is out for it. don't know for sure if he will be out tonight.

Anyone seeing tonight's show?
Why is John's performance so impressive?
