That's at least 4 years overdue (by Glass Menagerie standards), and we've yet to see Audra McDonald, Catherine Zeta Jones, Meryl Streep, Tonya Pinkins, Toni Collette, Cate Blanchett, or Kate Winslet play the role.
I do hope some Broadway producer is on this...

I'm not sure half the women you mentioned could sing the role.

Imelda's production was strongly rumored to transfer, I guess it fell through.

Tyne Daly couldn't sing the role and she was magnificent.

That's true about Tyne. Also Lansbury had much lowered keys. Also Elaine Stritch who came super close to playing the role wouldn't have sounded the greatest either.

Glass Menagerie is the new Gypsy. Get with the times!

...do we need another Gypsy revival?

I hope the Imelda Staunton production stays put on the other side of the Atlantic. Someone get Donna Murphy on the phone, or maybe it's time for Jane Krakowski to tackle a full-blown lead role on Broadway. Of course Audra McDonald or Tonya Pinkins would be fabulous too.

After Patti spoiled me with her powerhouse vocals and terrific acting, I'd like to see a Rose who can do the score justice.

Does it really bother some of you that "The Glass Menagerie" is being revived so soon after the last?

I don't think Tonya Pinkins will be on the stage for a while after the Mother Courage fiasco, though she'd be a great Rose.

Of course we do. It's one of the greatest musicals ever written with one of the greatest roles ever crafted for a woman. The show never makes money, but as long as there are actresses out there who should get their shot at playing the 'female Hamlet' -- we can never have enough productions of GYPSY....
Most productions actually look pretty much the same; they should just keep the sets and costumes in storage and bring them out twice a decade - it would save a lot of money and allow this musical to have all the productions it deserves.

I'd love to see her and Anika do it.

As long as we're playing this game I want to toss Stockard Channing's name into the ring.

What happened to poor Man Of La Mancha?
Like Rodney Dangerfield it gets no respect.

Sherie Rene Scott with Annaleigh Ashford as June.

Though I suspect she'd be a bit of a train wreck, I'd love to see Alice Ripley's Rose. Maybe not in NYC, but she could do it at La Mirada or Papermill.

I legitimately do not think she would be able to get through that score even once.

I NEVER would have thought of Jane Krakowski, but that's kind of inspired.

This I rather agree with, but I think she could give it a valiant try for the provinces.

She's not a big enough name, but I think Ana Gasteyer would be fantastic.

Oh, madbrian. You have made me so annoyed I didn't think of that.
