With John Cullum joining the cast of "Waitress", I saw that his Broadway career has spanned from 1956 ("Saint Joan"
until 2017, an amazing 61 years! Does anyone know that that is some kind of record statistic?
If you include Off-Broadway, the late George S. Irving had credits from York's 2008 Enter Laughing through the original Oklahoma! in 1943, 65 years.
While not an acting record, George Abbott’s first Broadway show was in 1913 (as an actor in “Misleading Lady” at age 26) and his last was in 1987 (writer/director of “Broadway” at age 100) — 74 Years! Abbott died at the young age of 107.
Regardless, it’s wonderful that Cullum (stupid auto correct) is still acting and I’m sure he’s great in Waitress.
Chita also has around 64- 65 years of Broadway credits.

Donna McKechnie's first Broadway show was in 1961 in the OBC of HOW TO SUCCEED and was just recently Chita's standby in THE VISIT(56 years).
Who is the oldest person to have ever been on broadway? And what age were they?
I have had the privilege of witnessing both Chita and George S. Irving do what they do best! I saw (and loved) THE VISIT and worked with Irving in what I think was his last performance of "The Butler's Song" at the York Theatre. The audience went wild.

Cathleen Nesbitt was 93 when she reprised her role of Mrs Higgins to Rex Harrison’s 73-y.o. Henry in the 1981 revival of “My Fair Lady”. I don’t know if that’s a record, but it’s damn impressive!! Lots of recent octogenarians stand out (Lansbury, Stritch, Rivera, Tyson, Estelle Parsons, JE Jones, Robert Morse, Rosemary Harris) but I can’t think of many over 90.

I guess John Cullem is a baby at only age 87.
What a career!
He was so good in Urinetown.
I saw him perform in a show at my university when I was in college with his son back almost 15 years ago.
Joel Grey was in the Borsct Capades in 1956, not Broadway though. In 1961 he was in Come Blow Your Horn though. Has had a rather long career.
I am still not over seeing his understudy in Urinetown. Usually I feel totally fine, even excited, seeing Understudies on, but missing John Cullum is one of the few times I've felt bitter disappointment.
If you believe that Cicely Tyson is the age she claims to be -- I know there's been some questioning, but she claims to be 92 -- then she appeared in TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL at 88 and THE GIN GAME at 90. She made her Broadway debut in 1959, meaning 56 years between first appearance and most recent appearance.
Joan Roberts' first Broadway appearance was in Sunny River in 1941, and her final appearance was in the 2001 Follies, making her career around 60 years.
