What, did Juilliard not have a recent grad to spare?
Actually, I think Groff will be good. He's very funny. I hope he can hit the high notes! I have a ticket for April that I was going to sell, but now I may keep it and check him out.

This'll be really interesting. I can't believe how this show is exploding. It's like for NY theatre what Frozen was for the movies last year.
Pun intended.

What about Looking? I'm sure it will be renewed.. He will be taking at least a month off, no?

Yeah...someone needs to learn what a pun is...
Really wish I could see the show with Brian D'Arcy James in it.

The entire second season of Looking has already been filmed.
Happy to see Groff returning to the NY stage!
Love Groff. Love Hamilton. But this is some mighty odd casting.
This will not conflict with the New Brain at City Center correct?

I'm a little confused as to how Brian D'Arcy James and Jonathan Groff could play the same role but I'm happy for him and it does make me want to see the show more.
I wouldn't be surprised if Groff transfers with the production. Looking's ratings are REALLY bad and it still hasn't been renewed by HBO, I can't imagine them giving it a third season.
Yeah Lookings ratings are an all-time low, so I can't imagine HBO would care.
I do wonder about A New Brain, but that's only like a two week commitment.
I always found Groff to be a very ho-hum performer. Not that exciting.
The roles in Hamilton aren't really age specific, so King George being played by a younger/older actor isn't a massive issue. It's not a choice I expected, but it could be worse. I'm not a huge Groff fan, but I've always thought he was a better theater actor then TV or film, so perhaps my opinion will change.
LMM is a big Groff fan and friend. He's tweeted about him numerous times, so this isn't a huge shock.
I'd love to see Brian D'arcy James back with the show at some point. He was outstanding.

"someone needs to learn what a pun is..."
That was an analogy, not a pun.
Poor BDJ always get shafted when shows transfer because he has another show in the works. :P

The gossip is that it will get one more season. HBO's comedies are all floundering (though not as bad as Looking, which never had high numbers,) but DVD sales were surprisingly high and it fills gay niche that--or so I've been told--is something HBO wants to hold on to. Regardless it films relatively quickly.
Amazing news! Groff will definitely bring in audience members - possibly some who wouldn't have seen the show otherwise.
