It's definitely fast, like my own vibrato. Represent!
Sherie Renee Scott and Carolee Carmello have fast vibratos too.
I'm neither here nor there on Julia's vibratto; sometimes it gets a little too machine gun for me, other times I don't mind it. It depends on the song and if the vibratto detracts from it.

Fast vibratos make it seem like they're singing really out of control to me... I don't know why. I don't think she is right for this role, but oh well. She's a great actress anyways.

It's not out of control. In fact, people with fast vibrato have to work hard in order to be able to exert control over it, or else it's REALLY messy.
But yeah, I know a lot of people who think fast vibratos are bad for Broadway. I've been encouraged by many people to stick to classical singing for that reason.

yeah, her vibrato's a little fast, but only when she's really pushing hard. Her Wild Party is not attractive singing, but her performances on HAIR, CHESS, Children of Eden and her solo album truly show a flexible artist who can sing however she wants. Her heavy belt is very full and thrilling. It is her uniqueness (like Lupone, Buckley, Deiner) that makes her so awesome (not like so many of her generic contemporaries who all sound the same).
Carolee Carmello's vibrato used to drive me insane. I literally couldn't listen to her sing. Either she's warmed it up some or (and this is more likely) I've come around to it. She has one of my favorite voices in MT today. Her songs in LESTAT were season highlights for me. If only the show surrounding her wasn't so woeful.

I Definitely agree with gclef about both JMurn and Scott.
I LOVED her in the chess benefit, and she is fabulous as elphaba. As he said, best voice ever? Probably not. But I think she's a LOT more solid than a bunch of female leads on Broadway/touring at the moment. Her range is also brilliant - she may overstep it sometimes, but for the most part, definitely amazing.
She's also a phenomenal actress, so it just rounds her out as an awesome performer.
OMG your picture.
OMG your picture.
Haha, yeah. I am basically in love with the woman, but I still try to be objective.
hee. Me too.
I have a picture of us from Lennon, and she looks amazing. I look less-than, but whatever.
I really, really hope she comes back to Broadway soon, even if it IS as Elphaba.

Personally, I want her to sign on to something like High Fidelity, but that's more of a selfish request (opening in Boston
).
I really don't know what it is about Julia's voice that I'm wild about, but I am. Its one of those voices I could listen to all day.
hmmm thinking of Julia as Fanitine...lol. But seriously, I really want to see her as Cathy Hyatt...i think she would be brilliant. She is so generous as well. Some people at Syracuse told me that she had a very sweet and light voice when she began there...she has really come alont way.
Eh, it's okay. Nothing great but its fine.
I just recently realized how cloyingly irritating Sutton Foster's vibrato can be. *shivers*
