Jesus...I hate to be mean, but either a)she's improved a lot since "Piazza" or b) Joe Mantello (or the associate director or whomever) has lost his mind.
If she is still with the company in June/July I shall be seeing her in Buffalo.

I saw the final tour performance of Piazza on 7/22/07. I've always loved Katie's acting and it was truly flawless that day. I think we can all agree that her singing was awful on the PBS broadcast. On July 22, she hit all the notes perfectly. I have high hopes for Katie as Glinda. I hope she brings same subtlety and depth that she brought to Clara. I'll see her in St. Louis on December 15.
Piazza is my favorite show. I saw the PBS broadcast and was horrified. I saw her live a month later and was BLOW AWAY. She sang and acted the hell out of Clara.
I saw Katie Rose Clarke (as she now goes) in ...Piazza prior to the filming of the PBS broadcast and I thought she was fantastic. I think she was just completely overwhelmed with anxiety during the taping.
I am excited for her to be playing Glinda and I hope to see her performance live.
I did not enjoy her as Clara in LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA- at least on the PBS broadcast- Kelli is Clara to me- but I did not not see her talent and enjoy HER if that makes sense
I wish her well.

I saw Kyle Dean Massey in the Non-Equity production of 42nd Street a couple years ago. I was really underwhelmed by him, even though I had been listening to his version of "Flight" for a couple months. He has a great voice, but his acting is sort of lacking. I'll be curious to see how he does with Fieyro. I wouldnt mind seeing him and Katie Clarke together. Seems like a good pair.
When I saw the tour in Philly it was an undertstudy palooza. It was one of their last performances and Coleen Sexton was Elphaba, Laura Woysaz was Glinda, Jonathan Ritter was Boq and Bryan West was Fiyero. Now that thats out of the way... Bryan West was an incredible Fiyero. I have only seen Sebastian Arcelus and Bryan West, but Bryan beat Sebastian by a mile. I may have just seen him on a great night but if they need to replace a Fiyero and decide to recycle then they should consider Bryan West.
afaye11...so glad someone has seen Bryan go on and loved him. If I knew he was going on in Philly, I would've tried to get a ticket and make the trek from NJ to see him. I loved him in Hairspray (esp covering Link) and figured he would make a darn good Fiyero. Thanks for the review!
So she is the new tour Glinda eh? Was there an official announcement? I believe that Victoria Matlock is also leaving the role of Elphaba behind her, if she hasn't already. Any word on who is replacing her? Colleen Sexton?
I have seen Katie in Piazza three times. She has been the weakest one every time. When she sings her vowel placement alone makes me want to hurt myself. As for for her vocal accuracy, it's okay, just try not to be to vocal when you are in the audience and she misses your favorite (and most important note) in the show.
