Keke is a talented performer with everything needed to take on this role and blow the audience away. I think Cinderella is a beautiful show and I am so glad it will be on Broadway longer.
Anyone know who they went with for the stepmother role? NeNe or Sherri?
I need to say: If NeNe gets the part: "Cinderella: Starring KeKe and NeNe" :P
I'm seeing this regardless and I'm glad they're breaking the mold. I think it'd be great if they even went the Disney route and had her godmother be white or another race. Because, really, who cares? It's a fantasy.

BTW, She is contracted through January, according to a Yahoo interview she did say. Also, she said that the producers are looking at a African American actress for the role of the Stepmother.
She will be awesome. How about Adriane Lenox as Marie/Fairy Godmother?
Isn't Victoria supposed to leave soon for Gigi? I honestly hope we do get a black Fairy Godmother like on tour. I wish Whitney was still here to reprise the role.
I still think the step mom is going to be either Sheri Shepard or Nene Leakes.

I wonder who they have in line for Topher? It would be exquisite if the cast was multi racial all around just like the Disney production and last national tour.
A fall run will be extremely difficult for Nene Leakes. She'll be filming the Housewives through probably late November/early December. Atlanta is unique in the Housewives franchise because they continue filming even once the season starts airing in November. 8 performances a week will not coincide with the work she's contracted to do with Bravo for filming.
It'll be very interesting if it happens.

Even though it's official now. I can't believe no one has posted any sources like this one.

I can't see them paying Nene what she THINKS she's worth, especially since she'd have to buy a $5 penthouse in NYC because she is "very rich!"
I like her and think she'd be just fine in the part, but I can't see her agreeing to move to NYC for the "honor/privilege/prestige" of performing on broadway.
Coincidentally, Keke had a featured role last night as Coral in Masters of Sex. The girl can act.
Whoopi as the Stepmother, and I'm there!
Shows how up to date I am, I had to google who she was.
Is the rush for Cinderella still weekdays only? Has anyone had success on weekends?
They do rush for all 8 performances. I've purchased tickets on weekends less than an hour before curtain.
So happy to see we're all exciting and interested in this casting. She happened to be on The Talk today, and I was sad to see they didn't mention it. Anyway, in this age of snark, she was so naturally ebullient and classy it'll be so much fun to see that energy on stage.
I'd love to see Vanessa Williams as the Stepmother.

I'm just over people that are complaining about her casting. I don't understand how people who claim to say that they love Broadway, still don't comprehend that it also a business. Like Jesus, get a grip.
Am always interested in what's going on so am pleased that you all seem to know who she is and that you expect her to be wonderful. Can't see from what I can find that she transforms from talk shows to Cinderella so must have missed something[obviously quite a lot]. Here's to glowing reports and reviews and lots more bums on seats.

Also in the 1997 TV film, the lyrics "Her checks are a pretty shade of pink, but not any pinker than a rose is" were changed to "Her face is exquisite I suppose but no more exquisite than a rose is". I wonder if they will use those lyrics as well.
