If she surprised people with her acting and comedic timing, she'd be the toast of the town and probably win a Tony."
Whorehouse would be great! Emma in Song & Dance would be great too.

My theater pipe dream for Kelly Clarkson is her getting together with someone like Joshua Henry or Darren Criss to record a new The Last Five Years album. It's a whole lot of singing, and the character is all there in the music and lyrics with no additional bs.

Also check out her version of "Happier Than Ever" Billie Ellish cover. Love it."
Her Billie Eilish cover is sublime. She can act the crap out of a lyric. I’d really hate to see her trotted out in Annie Get Your Gun. I’d find that so boring. Her voice has so many colors I’d love to see someone write something for her. I’d even be happy for a limited run Broadway concert
I’d also love to see her dressed and costumed in flattering ways. If I see her in one more dress with the waist hiked up to her boobs I’ll scream. Her stylist should be fired. She’s a gorgeous woman.

Kelly Clarkson is best-known as a pop star, but she grew up a Broadway baby. In her Texas high school, she was in show choir, which led her to doing musicals, like ''Annie Get Your Gun,'' ''Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'' and ''Brigadoon!'' In 2015, she told Entertainment Weekly that she'd love to create a role in a new Broadway musical or star in a revival of ''Funny Girl.'' She admitted Barbra Streisand would be ''a tough act to follow,'' but she's loved that role ''ever since I was a little girl.''

Love this! But not Criss. Give us someone on her vocal level.

Kelly has a wonderful voice and personality, and a way of making every song she sings sound like her own. That was really beautiful!

Hasn't that score been recorded enough? I don’t think I could sit through another round of it.

I can’t help but wonder how much fun a Kelly Clarkson Mrs. Lovett could be.

The sense I always got from Kelly is that her oft-claimed hatred or fear of acting again was mostly from how bad and uncomfortable her From Justin to Kelly experience was. And now, twenty years later, she’s testing the waters to see if she wants a second try on HER terms.

I’d love this. I’d much prefer her to go outside her comfort zone than get shoe horned into something boring. Even if the acting is off she’s gonna sing the hell out of it.

What a wonderful and delicious surprise. Thanks for posting this.

Have you heard her and Groban singing Phantom on his Broadway album? It's hot. Very hot.
Those two doing Sweeney would be insane.

I'm not super familiar with Clarkson's work, but this is gorgeous. Based on what's been said in this thread, I understand that she's not much of an actor, which is a shame.
I've been thinking recently that, while Broadway plays don't have TOO much trouble tapping film/tv stars, it's much tougher for musicals to score bankable box office names. With Sara Bareilles revealing herself to be an excellent actor, I have to wonder what other untapped acting talent exists in the popular music world.
It would be great if we could get bankable names like Clarkson to champion a new musical, since it's so incredible difficult to get a new musical a massively popular IP, or with a Best Musical win (or even WITH one...)
It's not ideal, because then you face the flip-side problem, where the show is so dependent on the star that it can't keep running after they leave. But it might still be worth it if it means getting more risky musicals to sell on Broadway.

Well, I would love that recording. I agree with SouthernCakes that Criss won't fit. I don't know what I was thinking - maybe popularity of the male singer to kinda match hers, but then again - I agree I'd rather have the voice and artistry over what's "possible".
And as for you having to sit through it, Betty - you don't have to! We're all just dreaming and you're free to dream of not listening to this album even if it did exist :)

Also, it just came to me (thanks for Cher's Chiquitita playing on my shuffle).... Kelly Clarkson would be a FIRE Donna in a Mamma Mia revival in a few years.

WOW! To open a network TV show with this show is brilliant.
Thank you, Kelly.

Looks like KC is moving her talk show from LA to New York.
My wishful thinking is that this is one step closer to a Broadway debut.

Compared to this, Clarkson doesn’t even reach the level of bad. The singer is not the only one losing her mind.
