I always wondered, are couples really kissing or is it stage kissing? what if they are a real couple or if the male is gay? any examples? what do you think?

it really depends on the actors. I am gay and i have done 'real kissing' onstage with a female before love interest. I have done stage kissing in similar situations. It totally depends.

it is REAL kissing but mostly without alot of tongue.

did you guys see the music man movie back in feb.? towards the end matthew and cheno kiss and i think she slipped him the tongue because he makes this really funny shocked face.

howdy..most of the time it is real kissing...just like the whole cigarette thing...most of the time the actors were smoking real cigarettes...but now they have banned that!! i do however have a question, in a show like Take Me Out or Naked Boys Singing if one of the men is strait and the other gay then do the still kiss??:???

Yes, I did see the HORRIBLE Music Man movie remake. And I did notice that "Cheno" gave Matthew quite a bit of tongue. It was almost rated R. Can you believe it: A rated R Music Man? It was a HORRIBLE movie and Broderick was a horrible Harold, but "Cheno" wasn't bad except when she was BAD, if you get my drift.

Tongue kissing does not an R-rating make. Never did, even when the ratings were first introduced in the late '60s.
Well! In Phantom... They're not really kissing since the Phantom has fake deformed lips- Christine is kissing that!!
But I wondered the same thing JGC_Broadway about kissing on Broadway!!!

I wouldn't mind finding out with a few of the actors in shows....
hmmmm who could i really kiss on broadway.
I think they all really kiss. It definitely looks real. And yes, gay men play straight men, and kiss women I think. It's part of being an actor, no? Why wouldn't they kiss?

lol, Namo! oh, i found my example! ok, would persay, Sutton kiss Gavin the same way she kisses the new jimmy-her boyfriend?
Broadway Legend Joined: 7/22/03
I daresay Our Gavin is incapable of such an acting achievement.
Would Sutton kiss Hunter the same way if he was playing Jimmy?
Remember it almost happened! A whole new slant to that show!

that would be pretty funny!! also is there actual nudity in some shows!! like take me out or naked boys singing....do the cover it up or adjust lighting or do you see the full package..lol??:)
Broadway Legend Joined: 7/22/03
No. It's all implied. You never ever see the whole package lol. Except for Bernadette's full frontal at the end of Everything's Coming Up Roses, that was a shocker.

huh----bernadette never showed anything at the end of Everythings....she never shows anything....no tammy takes off her boa at the end of the strip tease but she is wearing a skin tight leotard and the lights are adjusted so she is just silhoutted---i dunno what performance you saw but bernadette did NOT show anything....she is not even the stripper Tammy is Updated On: 8/22/03 at 06:17 PM
I think Namo was perhaps making a little joke.
Needless to say if Bernadette bared anything in this production, the world would have heard of it by now.

I don't know about broadway kissing, but I met my husband while performing opposite him in a local play, and have since kissed him and other men onstage. The only difference about kissing my husband onstage as opposed to another man, is it's more comfortable to kiss my husband, just because we have more practice and we're used to each other. Other than that, I don't get the same feeling from kissing my husband onstage as I do from kissing him offstage. When people ask me if it's weird to kiss another man or have my husband kiss another woman, I tell them that in the moment on stage, to me atleast, a kiss is comparable to a handshake. I don't love to watch my husband kiss other women onstage, but I don't feel threatened or jealous, and he's the same about me.
I'm a little muddled...staged kisses are just that! Two people "acting" and a good kiss has to be as convincing as the rest of their character. Come on folks, haven't you sat in the first row and watched a few "good staged kisses". The ones where you can hear the two lips release the suction. Ahh... I love when that happens. Now that's a good kiss! One that I'd be proud of!
As far as gay men really kissing a female ...ever seen Doug Sills in Scarlet Pimpernel? Of course at curtain call, Doug occassionally bent Terry Mann backwards for a "heroe's kiss" much to Terry's dismay and the audience's glee.
And that's all I can share on the subject getting in deep stuff.

that was my reason for asking. cause when i saw Millie the other day, there was this loud "suction" in between Sutton and her boyfriend and not when i saw it with Gavin, so i didnt know if it was a gay thing, or because she was seeing someone? i dont know. this is such a stupid question! sorry for my stupidity!

no question is a stupid questions...it is the only way to learn things.....lol......if anyone should happen to make fun of you for it then tell them to back off....haha...lol....jk....

I heard somewhere, I think on the Sunday In The Park With George commentary, that Bernadette doesn't "do nude." So that joke couldn't be true, anyway.
