It hasn’t even started previews and appears to be sold out. Any word on a transfer since Amahl will be at the Mitzi in December?

I got my lintix when they went on sale. 80 dollars for two tickets. When I got tickets for ragtime, I paid 71 for two tickets. So they raised the prices

I did not think this would sell out like it has. Was anyone else surprised?

A touch. I thought it was a great production in London. If I recall correctly, the London run was either a sellout or close to it, but I wasn't sure that would be the same case in NYC.

I finally was able to pick up two tickets for Kyoto. They added a table in the front and Telecharge warns You may be seated directly next to actors participating in the performance. While this is a uniquely immersive experience, you will not be asked to participate.
I am excited to see this.

SAME. Yes. Heard great things from the UK. Bought tickets early!

Just got tickets tot this as it appeared LCT did a ticket drop. I wish that front row was available when I purchased - curious how the experience was for people. Board seems a tad quiet on this one but I have heard nothing but stellar things about this play not to mention the reviews out of the UK. Any further word?

This was truly excellent. It's not a feel good show but it has heart warming moments. Really highlighted how difficult these negotiations were in an engaging, thrilling way. Not easy to do with the subject matter at heart. In the end you appreciate the different players in the event and what they had to do to make history. And I also felt sad that something like this would be impossible to achieve today. If you can get a ticket I definitely would recommend you see this.

Concur. Truly excellent. Any negative review is on par for the reviewer. Those who don't like the British transfer and/or are threatened by them.

This has everything I hate about British theater. The satirical thing. The immersive nonsense with characters chattering throughout, taking away from the main lines. The pretentious political subject matter. The sound affects and the screen. The leading man’s cheesy American accent. It’s all so dreadful, don’t see this. I totally agree with the critics. The Brits have lost their touch on doing drama. Sad but true.

Or see it, make your own opinion, because art is subjective and just because cheesecake didn't like it doesn't mean it's bad.

Hate to break it to you sunshine —but the “leading man” (Stephen Kunken) IS American.

Wow okay, well I’m assuming he’s still doing some sort of accent to presumably sound like the guy he’s playing. It sounded cheesy

Well at least you didn't say he sounded cheesecakey.
Kyoto got strong reviews pretty much across the board in London.
I think some US reviewers got too hung up comparing it to/expecting it to be like The Jungle.

The only time I actually liked Stephen daldry’s work was Skylight. Probably because it was more human, more intimate, more real. I can’t with these chaotic satirical political plays with everyone on edge like Kyoto and The Jungle. The only thing I appreciate about them is that they move. I’d take Liberation or Prayer for the French Republic any day over the horrible British dramas

I certainly don’t think West End has lost its touch for exciting political theatre. Even as recently as 2021, Broadway had Lehman Trilogy, a towering achievement of theatre that well deserved the Tony for Best Play. Not to mention the similarly remarkable Prima Facie and The Hills Of California.
I found Kyoto to be electric.

i thought this was riveting. staged and constructed quite intelligently, and i wasnt bored for a minute of the 2 hour 45 minute runtime. the reviews were tepid, but as I heard Kate Burton say during intermission, "you can tell your friends to come see it but there are hardly any tickets so..." its selling well and had quite an enthusiastic reception today. im real glad i caught this.
kunken is doing a master class here--whens the last time the narrator protagonist was also the one you were rooting against from the jump? and the ensemble is stacked, justifying the dramatization of UN conference debate. it deploys some lazy cliches but it comes together in the end.
go see it.
