Posted: 4/26/10 at 11:50amWell, I guess the Outer Critics Circle Awards will be the first test of the Lansbury/Finneran competition. Both ladies were nominated.

Please, let's not go back into the Karen-Olivo-can't-dance-and-didn't-deserve-the-Tony discussion.
I'll have to go into rehab again.

You're exactly right. That's why she beat Eve Best for the Drama Desk Award.
And why she beat Julie White for the Tony.
And why she has two Oscars.

I seem to remember you stoking the flames of that discussion, in fact, starting it, Peej.

Posted: 4/26/10 at 1:57pmIt really is too bad that Angela did not win an Oscar in her lifetime...

Posted: 4/26/10 at 2:09pmNot to mention Angela was nominated for Emmys a whopping 18 times, but NEVER won.

18 times? Too bad she never won for Murder, She Wrote.
Luckily, she did win a few Golden Globes though!

Posted: 4/26/10 at 2:25pmYah, 12 of the times were for Murder She Wrote. The rest were for other things.

Yeah, sadly she's one of Emmy's biggest losers...
...and soon to be Tony's biggest winner.

I would just like to point out to those who told me back when casting was announced that Zeta-Jones would sell more tickets than Lansbury that, in Lansbury's absence, the grosses for the previous week fell 27.8% from the prior week. It seems a logical consequence of her vacation.

No pitting. :)
It's not impossible for Lansbury to still win an Oscar. She just has to make more movies. She has to want to make them, though, and to do that she'd have to stay away from Broadway and get back to Helen Mirren/Judi Dench territory.
She regrets not having starred in a film, and I know it dissapointed her not to win the Oscar, so you never know. Who thought she would return to Broadway in her 80s three times? It's only over when it's truly over.

I'm pretty sure there is a quote from Lansbury that she does want one last film role..I can't remember where, though.

She regrets not having starred in a film..
Say what? I recall she was the star of Disney's Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

Posted: 4/26/10 at 6:35pmFor some reason she doesn't count that. She doesn't particularly like that film, either.

Posted: 4/26/10 at 6:39pmLOL. Regardless of her feelings towards the film the fact remains she did star in a film. Funny.

Posted: 4/26/10 at 6:43pmI guess she doesn't equate starring with "Bedknobs & Broomsticks" with starring in "Dark Victory" or "The Trip to Bountiful." :)
