I guess we should be expecting to get a 'closing' announcement shortly.

"I wonder why?"
Too much blonde dye inhalation?
Sorry, I am horrible when it comes to jokes...if this implies that the show is closing, that is terrible especially if they went through the whole process of finding the next Elle; however, we shouldn't jump to conclusions...it can be a scheduling conflict with someone.

They probably realized there was no way to ensure confidentiality, no matter what audience members signed...I know with Project Runway, the finalists were blogged about within minutes of the Bryant Park Shows.

In that case, the taping would have been postponed... which would mean that it would be rescheduled to a future date.

Assuming the Broadway show IS closing, wouldn't they just modify the show's prize to star in the Nat'l Tour?
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Well, it says no further information is available, so maybe there will be something because haven't they taped episodes already? Perhaps, as CapnHook said, they'll modify the show's prize to star in the national tour (unless they have someone already).

With over 600 thousand taken this week the show is in no danger of closing

I agree with Ben - there's no way you could ensure confidentiality in this community. Anyone who really cared anyway would be at the taping.

songanddanceman: It seems the past few weeks the show hasn't been doing that horribly. Legally Blonde has had some slow weeks and had quite a rough winter, but it looks like things might be picking up a bit now. I have a feeling it will close this year, but maybe they'll wait until after summer.
"It ain't gonna happen and its done."
It's confusing because there isn't much information available. What if they are just doing a private taping somewhere else without the live audience?

Methinks that they looked at how bad the taping of the musical did and realized that anyone who would care would be there and thus wouldn't watch. I say taping of the musical because it was full of Blonde fans and they were most likely the only ones who cared abou the show being taped thus they were there.

I thought it was a bad idea to start with, due to the issues of confidentiality. I am guessing it's either gonna be a close-set, or they'll announce it live, or the whole thing might not happen.

ben, I think Project Runway showed 5 designers to throw everyone off who was in attendance. Sweet Pea and Chris showed at the Project Runway show at fashion week.

You're right, they did. I just remember looking at all the collections within an hour after they were shown. Maybe they got worried the finalists would end up on youtube. But was it clear whether they were selecting the winner or just showing the finalists?

I just got the same voice-mail.
Per Playbill.com:
A spokesperson for Classic Entertainment Group, Inc., the production company handling the MTV program, confirmed to Playbill.com that the March 18 taping, which had been scheduled to include an afternoon audience of Blonde enthusiasts at the Palace Theatre, has been scrapped. The producers wanted to make sure news of the winner didn't leak out before the TV series airs.
Although those attending the taping were going to be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement, the producers decided they wanted to insure the element of surprise and will tape the finale at a later date.

Disappointing for those who were excited to go.
But makes perfect sense: Us theatre queens can never keep our mouths shut. With a live-audience, the winner would be announced to the world in seconds with a text-message. :)

I didn't even realize they were to a point where a finalist has been reached.

I think it is because they couldn't be guaranteed a full house. The 1st email sent out said that people who requested tickets could bring as many friends as they wanted because there were plenty of seats! My guess would be they could not just hope for the best tomorrow afternoon when people showed up. No way they would shoot the show with a half empty house. I just don't think there is enough interest.

Are you kidding me? Of course they would have filled the house! They were turning people away at the LEGALLY BLONDE taping last time. They would have turned TONS of people away for this tomorrow.
