I hope they have done major work since La Jolla because if not this show is doomed
Wonder if they'll close Hadestown and bring this in.

Good buzz. Good cast. Good creatives. And--gasp!--source inspiration that isn't obvious. Looking forward to this!
Super excited for this one.

I have been looking forward to this one for awhile. Glad that it’s coming to New York. However, I do hope for Eden’s sake, the show doesn’t list Nederlander as a producer. Keep in mind, that has nothing to do with whether or not this is in a Nederlander house. They have produced shows in other houses that weren’t their own.

I agree with Broadway Star. In La Jolla there was interesting set design, a rather interesting story that needed some help from a good dramaturge, but a score that felt like an endless succession of power ballads so that's hopefully where the most work has been over the past few years. Always ready to applaud a new and original musical but my expectations based on what was displayed in CA are low.

There are definitely some throwaway ballads in this, but when the score hits it HITS. "Woman Is" and "Stillness" are top tier songs.

"Starting over" is my favorite. Absolutely breathtaking music:

The piano theme from this that trails throughout the whole show is SO good. Can't wait to hear this score live again.

Oh I absolutely CANT WAIT. I saw it in La Jolla and yes there are some clunky moments that I hope they’ve reworked, but overall it is powerful and moving. Eden is a star and I would love to see ximone rose as Rafaela in this again.

They’ve been listing Betty Who as through January 7. That depends to make for a good closing date. But if it’s making money they’ll keep it open.

Wait, why can't Hadestown and Lempicka run concurrently? Am I missing something?

It was rumored Rachel Chavkin wanted the Kerr for Lempicka after Hadestown closes, but anyone who knows how theatre real estate works knows that isn't how it works.
Nobody on this board ever knows how it works but it ain’t stop them from commenting!
I'm thrilled this is coming to Broadway. I saw both the workshop and the full production at Williamstown and thought it was excellent. I found the score to be gorgeous and interesting all the way through.
Definitely the most excited I've been about a new musical in quite some time.
I’ve been excited for this since seeing it in La Jolla. Eden is an absolute star!!!
HADESTOWN continues to have some juice. Almost 700K w/e 9.3 and I bet last week will be higher if Betty Who is a draw + the continuation of Broadway Week.

There were rumors a LONG time ago that they wanted the Kerr. I always found them stupid because they implied that Chavkin wanted or expected her own show to close.
I do think Chavkin is the type of director to think about how her shows play in different spaces. But, the idea that she would be so dead-set on getting her producers to get her the Kerr that she'd want Hadestown to close is silly.
Maybe a silly question: how is the title of this musical pronounced? According to Wikipedia, the artist's name is pronounced something like wempeetska - is that true of the show as well? Just want to make sure I'm saying it right in my mind.

They just pronounce it “Lem-pee-ka”
