I'm nervous for this. I think she's a fantastic singer. I haven't seen enough of her acting to truly judge it. I hope this goes well!

While I love Gaga, I wish they had gone for someone with more acting experience. I think Cynthia Erivo would have been perfect in the role, but then again I think she would be perfect for most things.

Looking forward to seeing Lady Gaga make her Broadway debut in this.  Bradley Cooper making 2 debuts: director and singing in a musical.   

 

Any idea when previews are expected and if they're doing an out-of-town tryout?

I, too, knew it was a film...but it would be nice to actually get someone with both legit acting and singing chops. I'll be interested to see how it plays out!

Considering how it's called A Star is Born, it probably would've been a perfect opportunity for a newcomer. Even though Janet Gaynor, Judy Garland, and Barbra Streisand weren't exactly newcomers when they did their film versions.

They could have done some really interesting things with this remake to make it different. They could have made the older star a woman and the young star in the making a man. They could have made it a gay couple. Dragging out this time worn plot and doing it the same way seems boring and unnecessary.

Um Lady Gaga's whole life is acting- for those who say they don't think she'd be a good actress she has one heck of a performance going the last decade. Acting Grad from Julliard I think...

While I'm cautiously interested in this - she does have legit acting experience - in fact she won a Golden Globe for her performance in American Horror Story last season. I think if they tailor the role for her a bit and the direction is good this could be quite good.....then again it could just as easily be a disaster :)

I think Barbra moved on from Gaga. In the At The Ballet video im pretty sure she mentioned interviewing Daisy Ridley for Gypsy

She went to NYU and studied in the Experimental Theatre Wing (ETW), if I'm not mistaken. 

This is very exciting. As someone who doesn't care much for pop music, I have always loved Lady Gaga. I think she is a creative genius and extremely talented. I only wish they would keep "The Man That Got Away" from the original. I would love to hear her take on it. 

If this does well, I hope a Broadway debut is in the near future. Funny Girl, anyone?

She did Tisch at NYU but dropped out. I think she'd be great. After seeing Barbra on Saturday, I think Lady Gaga is the only current star, of my generation, that I could see sort of doing what Streisand has done. I don't think she has that certain quality to her though that Barbra has.

I've been waiting for a good broadway project for her.  She's a fantastic performer with a powerful voice.  She'd make a phenomenal Evita.

For her unique voice, which has the same jazz-meets-rock quality David Bowie had, I'd like to hear her sing the David Bowie/George Michael arrangement of "Wild is the Wind."

Is Funny Girl not an option for her? I mean, not to put her in another Barbra vehicle, but she would kill that score. And I don't know anyone else that could possibly make it an event like her. Although, Mueller would be pretty stellar too.

Highly doubtful that Lady G would deign to come to Broadway for any vehicle after dipping her painted toes in Hollywood.
