They better hurry, since Beth Leavel is supposed to start rehearsals for Minsky's on November 24...
EDIT: scratch that. Apparently she's staying until the end of December

She should spit in Brook's eye!
Good for Cloris!
Many will remember that Cloris was heavily campaigning to reprise her film role before Andrea Martin was eventually cast.
There must be an old thread with colorful BWWer remarks concerning this.
Elke, Leavel is doing double duty with MINSKY'S and YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN for about a month.
She does indeed start MINSKY'S rehearsals on November 24th, but she doesn't actually leave YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN until December 21st.
I would actually see this show again if this happened. I can't believe I would ever see that again, but it would be amazing.
Thanks for the info, somethingwicked. That's great news actually, it means that I can see her again when I'm in NY in December. :)
Do you happen to know whether these dates are the same for Chris Fitzgerald?
Roger Bart said his contract ends on Nov 16 but I wouldn't be surprised if he extends.
If Cloris DOES get cast, many of the show's star who've left would be kicking themselves silly, especially Megan. Cloris has proven herself not only the consumate professional (she continually works in television and films -- recently THE WOMEN), but she's a total controlled nutcase who would bring a brand-new interpretation of Frau at every performance. She would DEFINITELY keep the entire cast on edge at each performance.

She should ask for her name above the title and a lot of $$$$...I'll bet they give it to her cause she will be the only one who will be able to save this bomb.
She would be really good!! I hope Chris Fitzgerald doesn't leave soon!!

I would definitely go back to see the show if Cloris joined the cast.
I'd go back too
I'd go see it, period (right now I haven't seen it and have very little desire to).

She has certainly proven herself to be wonderful on Dancing With The Stars. She would be great in the show.

I'd SO go back in a second to see this. Probably more than once.
The character has a song, right? Will Cloris be able to handle it?
I'd hope she would give Mel the finger and do a new role in a new show, after the way he dismissed her when YF was coming together.

That show is a sinking ship. Somebody write her something good.
I'll be first in line to see Cloris repise her movie role! And yes, she can handle the song. She sang in the TV version of OF THEE I SING, and has been on several TV specials in the 70's & 80's - specifically a Rodgers and Hammerstein tribute, where she did quite well. I don't think she'd have any trouble with the song, which I beleive she already performed at the Worksop.
She's got to be the spriest 82-year-old in the world . . .
and Estelle Parsons is the spriest 81-year-old!
Even if 8 shows a week is too much, maybe someone could cover the Wed. & Sat. matinees.
NEEEEIGH!
"She should spit in Brook's eye!"
Agreed CDP!
This wreck isn't good enough for Ms. Leachman anyway. As much as I adore her, not even she could enhance me into sitting through this again.
If I want to see an entertaining Young Frakenstein with a first rate cast including Ms. Leachman - I'll watch the movie.
