I just wanted to say that I just got done watching it,(I had to work tonight so I recorded it) Tammy Blanchard's Portrayal in this film was just breathtakingly Disturbing and it was so real. i loved it so much and She should get something for it. She will have a strong Film career for herself for many years to come.

Whether the story is true or not, I very much enjoyed this movie -- actually more so than the Sally Field TV movie -- even though it suffered from being much shorter, it actually stuck much closer to the book than the prior film, which made me quite pleased. I was thrilled right from the start when she ended up in Philadelphia, unaware of how she got there, just like the book did (of course in the book, it happened well into therapy but close enough). I just love the way the story unfolds -- that tidbits are revealed throughout, of past and present.

And yeah, totally agree, Tammy was brilliant.

It is a really good story and good movie material for sure, I just wish that they would have added some disclaimer so that people would take it more at face value.

Haha Spork, I know what you mean about the source. I am Psych major too. My professors would die if I ever used that as a source. But with doing a quick google search, that's what I found.

crushgroove, last week I rented BELLA and I adored it. It was so moving and really well-crafted. The best aspect? Without a doubt, Tammy Blanchard's towering performance. She was really phenomenal. As usual.

I really liked "Bella" too. Sorry I missed "Sybil" last night. I had to go out but I had thought of taping it, and then I forgot all about it.

I didn't even know this was on last night. Why did CBS air it on a Saturday night? Oh well, I hope it comes out on DVD.

If Tammy Blanchard is not nominated for the 2009 Emmy for this incredible performance, there is no justice. That girl has a very nice body of work on a whole. Its ashame CBS didnt do more to publicize this movie and the wonderful acting in it.

Tammy IS getting a 2009 Golden Globe and Emmy nomination for this, as is Jessica Lange.

The 2 nominations are too predictable as is Meryl Streep's 2009 Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy (for MAMMA MIA!).

Well, CBS could just send the voters screeners.

There WAS a disclaimer at the end. It didn't come out and say it was bogus, but it said that a bunch of drawings were found in the home of the real Sybil (Shirley whatever) after she died in 1998 and that the pictures looked like they were done by different artists with the same hand. It never came out one way or another and said that it was or wasn't true.

This film has been in limbo since 2006.

That's really interesting. It's a shame these things get filmed and then sit around for so long before they get aired, if they ever do at all. Seems like such a waste of money.

Regardless, I would love to see it.

I didnt know it was on, or I would've taped it...but what is weird is that I saw much of it while in Cancun in February...it was on their HBO station.

From my understanding, after it was made CBS had pretty much shuttered its movie night or department or something. They were burning off their tv movies for the past few Saturday nights.

It really wasn't bad at all. It moved pretty quickly and a lot was just glossed over, but I thought Blanchard and Lange (who were 90% of the movie) were both pretty good.

Well I'm a few years late but American Horror Story has me wanting to see Lange in this. As far as I can find there was no commercial DVD, but does anyone have an unauthorized copy?
