MTI Announces new shows for rental - which will be the hottest rental?

What I wouldn't give for my school to do some of these. Just Announced on MTI's Web Site Some of these have been discussed here before.

I'm not saying I love all of these shows, just the fact that they are available . . . wow!

Spring Awakening
Sweeney Todd, School Addition
Xanadu
Ave Q
Putnam County
13
Edges
Wedding Singer
Legally Blonde


13 is my guess for the hottest rental

I think Schools with decent programs will be staging Sweeney Todd.

I know I am at my school in the fall.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I'm thinking 13 although is a hot mess. It will be. Really popular with schools and community theater. People love seeing kids performing and they usually sell really well. Especially if the band is also teens like it was on broadway. Also it's so rated G that everyone can enjoy it. Which is a major plus.

I don't know if it was the student version of Sweeny, but a school in my county did it last spring, and overall it was good. You could tell they put a lot of effort into it and it really did work, although, they didn't know how to balance the orchestra with the singers... the orchestra often times overplayed, even though the actors did not have mics, but I think that if schools put forth the passion, and have the talent, they can pull it off

Ok.

AVE Q, SPELLNG BEE, and EDGES are not new.

EDGES was released at the beginning of 2008

AVE Q and SPELLING BEE have been released for a while - they are not available though. still on a "Restricted" list.

and it's Edition... not Addition.

you're a teacher?? dear God, save us.

I'm always skeptic about high schools performing Sweeney. I still feel like it's too difficult for high school singers. I'll admit that I have seen some really good productions of Sweeney put on in High Schools, but I still think it should be done in College and up.
