I understand this process is not official- I already voted anyway.
But, I wish Tarzan was considered for any nominations. I don't think it was just a piece of trash and some elements of the musical were more than commendable.
Also, where's Harvey as the Fiddler replacement?

I'll say it: good list, Munk.
I was invited to it. I work for another large media company that produces bway shows. I wanted to go earlier to see Tarzan, but have not had the chance.
I would like to submit that any list that does not feature GREY GARDENS or Ms. Ebersole does not fully reflect the 2005-2006 New York theatrical season.
That's the only change I would make to the list.
"I would like to submit that any list that does not feature GREY GARDENS or Ms. Ebersole does not fully reflect the 2005-2006 New York theatrical season."
I would like to submit that GREY GARDENS is not a Broadway show, and Ms. Ebersole is not a Broadway actress this New York theatrical season!
And sorry I didn't say this before. But thank you for doing this again this year munk. I know it takes alot of effort and we all appreciate it.
Why the best performance of the season should be left off the list because it wasn't 'On Broadway' will always baffle me (both here and with the Tonys themselves).
ETA: Since nothing in the official unofficial rules state that the performances must have been in a Broadway show, I think it's a perfectly valid point.
The only category TARZAN had a chance in was best musical. I was only going to have 4 nominees, and it was between LESTAT, LENNON, or TARZAN. LESTAT was the lesser of the three evils.
Personally, I think Tarzan should win best lighting in a musical.
Honestly, I thought TARZAN was the biggest pile of crap I had ever seen.
If the show gets better reviews than anticipated, I will revisit TARZAN. If it is vastly better from the show that I saw a month ago, I will include TARZAN in next year's awards, if I make it out of TARZAN alive the second time.
WEDDING SINGER should have gotten a nom for Costume Design and Direction
TARZAN should have gotten lighting
This is all based on Munk's personal likes.. so..
Oh well I voted :]

I disagree completely. I found the entire design of this show completely hokey and ugly. It didn't provide any sense of environment whatsoever, unless the show was supposed to take place in a Disney theme park. It showed that Bob Crowley had no directing experience at all.
In all fairness, I think the second act was far better than the first, since the human characters provided some reality and the set changed a bit more, showing more scenes and locations. The first act (other than the quite good opening) was just a bunch of people bouncing and twirling in hairy suits in a green box.
well, i voted for The Blond in the Thunderbird because it was included there and Chita's show, although i enjoyed it, it wasn't a great show, and Latinologes i haven't seen. I voted for someone who YOU included and you make fun of me for this, plus, how classy is to say it on here?
I voted for Chita's show, and I'm so glad it was included in the Special Theatrical Event category...where it freaking belongs!!

That was fun to do Munk .... thanks for taking the time to do it. It will be interesting to see how your noms line up the Tonys (they look pretty close to me).
No problem, thank you for all the votes.
If you guys would like to see a list of last year's winners, let me know and I'll post them. They weren't too far off from who won the Tony's, so this is a fun predictory tool as well.
We'd love to see it!
I can never decide if I should vote for these, because picking when I haven't seen them all makes me feel guilty. Do I pick the one I've seen? The one I've heard the best things about?
Leen, you are a wonderful supporter.
I'd like to see last year's list too, please.

Yeah i was a little peturbed about Spanger ( my wife ) and Felicia left off, but I mean honestly, Felicia doesn't have much to do, athough she is AMAZING in her scenes. And Spanger's character isn't all that well written. But I think WS should have gotten a nomination for Costumes. I know Lestat has the big, lavish costumes, but I thought WS's costumes were brillant in their humor.
But anyways, I voted. And I voted for Blonde in the Thunderbird but only because I felt bad for her.

Here you are...
Of the 8 acting categories the Munky’s picked 4.(50%) (This included the obvious choices of Victoria Clark and Cherry Jones.)
Of the Best Play/Musical categories, the Munky’s predicted zero.(0%)
Of the 2 revival categories the Munky’s predicted 1.(50%)
Of the technical awards the Munky’s predicted 3 out of 6. (50%)
Of the two directing awards the Munky’s predicted zero.(0%)
The Munky’s correctly predicted the winners in the Choreography, Score, Book of a Musical and Orchestrations. Jerry Mitchell, Adam Guettel/Piazza and Spelling Bee were all expected to win the Tony...and DID!)
That was fun, Munk! Just one question: Why didn't you include Daniel Reichard in the Best Featured Actor in a Musical category? I thought he was fabulous!
