Interesting! Marissa was one of the few things that was actually good about Hairspray before Harvey and MJW returned to the show. She has great energy! Good for her!
Constantine is SO fine!

I didn't think Marissa Perry would want to do the show again after when she found out shwe wouldn't be the closing Tracy on Broadway. Howver, I'm glad she still loves the role and the show.

Is Hairspray going to be to fat girls what Miss Saigon has been to Asians? They're going to make a career jumping from production to production.
I lurv Hollis Resnick. Saw her in the tours of Millie and Scoundrels and she was superb in both.

You'd think Constantine would tire of this role after playing it on tour for quite some time before joining the Broadway cast. Guess not. Good for him. And yes.. I concur.. he IS HOT!
Constantine Rousouli is terrific. Hope he gets a chance to be on Broadway again sometime soon!!

He's attractive yes, but man is he boring on stage. And she wasn't anything to rave about. Their scenes together were just BLAND BLAND BLAND!
can people get new jobs
Good for them. I know if there was a role I enjoyed playing I'd want to do it every chance I got.

Marissa Perry and Constantine Rousouli have both expressed their excitement for this production and to be able to work with one another again. These two may have played their respective roles for considerable lengths of time (Rousouli even more so than Perry), but neither of them are "over" their roles or the show.
Constantine has been doing the show on & off since he was 17.

And how long did Howard McGillin play the Phantom? Perspective, people!

Yes, Rousouli has. Perry has also been involved with Hairspray in some capacity since her teens as well. She attended the "Tracy Camp" in Toronto as a teenager, then performed the role at Weston Playhouse in Vermont before landing the standby job on Broadway and, subsequently, taking over from Shannon Durig.

"then performed the role at Weston Playhouse in Vermont before landing the standby job on Broadway and, subsequently, taking over from Shannon Durig."
Well, yes and no. While it did happen the way you said it did, she was cast as a standby with the sole intention of replacing Shannon Durig...the producers couldn't wait any longer to replace Michelle Dowdy. They wanted her gone.

Why did they want Dowdy gone so badly? And if so... couldn't they just have fired her? If they hated her so much, why was she invited to the final show and why was she up there with everyone else for the curtain call?
And btw.. I was never a Dowdy fan. She just didn't seem likeable enough for the part.

"Why did they want Dowdy gone so badly?"
She was aweful in the role. She started out good enough with potential, but got progressively worse each time she went on.
"And if so... couldn't they just have fired her?"
They did. Originally, if I recall correctly, they were going to hire Marissa Perry and keep Dowdy in the alternate track. They then decided to bring Perry in early and perform as an alternate before she could replace Durig. I'm not 100% sure how it all played out, but she was definitely fired...they didn't let her finish her contract.
"If they hated her so much, why was she invited to the final show and why was she up there with everyone else for the curtain call?"
They extended an invitation to evryone who had appeared in the show. It wasn't so much about hating her as much as it was her not being ggod enough to perform the role. While I am sure she was upset, I don't believe that she left on bad terms...and she did perform as Tracy quite a bit.
And btw.. I was never a Dowdy fan. She just didn't seem likeable enough for the part.

This will be a very different Hairspray- the Theater is in the round. It also has a great reputation and actors seem to LOVE working there. I can't wait to see it.
I'll be there a week too early. So sorry I'm going to miss this.
I have a feeling Constantine Rousouli is dropping out of this production.
Word is he'll be joining the LEGALLY BLONDE tour in a few weeks (I believe he just booked it within the last two or three days.)

What part will play if this true?
