As great as she seems to be as Karen, I feel that she can also more easily embody the bitchy, mean, Regina type more effortlessly than Louderman can. On that same token, I think that Louderman can embody the airhead, Karen type much easier than Rockwell can."
I think having these actresses play characters which are seemingly against their natural grains would make for a better performance. I don't think a show like Mean Girls necessarily needs a "layered" performance, but The Little Foxes with Cynthia Nixon playing Birdie and Laura Linney playing Regina - complete opposite of what normally play with ease - showed how taking actors outside their comfort zone can result in mind-blowing performances. I feel BECAUSE Kate looks smart, her being an airhead would be really funnier. And because Taylor's looks fits the stereotype of someone who could be an airhead, her turning into this shrewd conniving person would be funnier.
How's that for complicated well reasoned argument, BWW?
