re: Message from Stephanie J. Block about recent absences

I've seen Norbert Leo Butz (decent), Joey Macintyre (ok), Derrick Williams (awful), Sebastian Arcelus (fantastic), David Burnham (bad) and whoever I saw in LA and in Chicago.

Thanks for your review, WaT.
I agree that Stephanie is the best. re: Message from Stephanie J. Block about recent absences
Let’s hope she has a safe and healthy end of a run as Elphaba!

I love what you said about Miriam. The way she says that line is absolutely hilarious. The first time I saw her she did the kissy thing as you said, but the last time I saw her it was like: “If you do something for the Wizard…:licks her lips:…he’ll do something for you” then made a biting motion. Hysterical! I’ve heard she always say inappropriate and dirty things, haha.

I’m sorry you were very disappointed with Annaleigh. I’ve seen her first show 10/9/07 (:cough:via youtube:cough), and I have to say that she is MUCH different now. She just seemed a little… lost? during that show. She’s much more comfortable in the role now. Not everyone likes her Glinda, and maybe even a second chance might not have changed your mind, but I’m just saying she’s much different (and better!) than that show.

But then again, everyone has their different preferences… I don’t like Kendra all that much and am in love with Annaleigh, so we’re like the opposite. :)

"Was Sebastian ever with anyone outside Stephanie as far as Fiyero/Elphaba? I wish I could have seen that- I bet ALAYM was amazing between those two "

Well he was already on Broadway before Steph joined, so he was with Julia Murney. And also Caissie Levy and Lisa Brescia when Julia was out.

re: Message from Stephanie J. Block about recent absences

I've seen Sebastian with Stephanie, Julia and Lisa.

legally_popular: the 10/9/07 performance was my second time seeing Annaleigh as Galinda. I first saw her as Kendra's standby in Philadelphia opposite Julia Murney, and thought she was awful then.

^Oh... lol. Then maybe twice is enough for you. I'm just saying she's much different now and has improved a lot.

Also, shh282, I heard that Sebastian had AMAZING chemistry with Julia too. I wish I could've seen him as Fiyero, especially opposite Stephanie.

re: Message from Stephanie J. Block about recent absences

This shows how absolutely objective things like this are. I have seen Wicked well over 100 times - all over the U.S. and abroad as well (from the pre-Broadway tryout onward).

Although I despised Annaleigh the first time I saw her in the role, by her final performance on Broadway (to date) as Glinda , she had become far and away my favorite Glinda. Also, David Burnham is my favorite Fiyero by far...no one comes close to matching him in my opinion. Sebastian Arcelus is my second favorite.

Different strokes for different folks.

As has been mentioned, Julia Murney, Cassie Levy, and Lisa Brescia for sure. He'd also have been with Shoshana Bean for that short run she and Megan Hilty did, plus I think Victoria Matlock briefly. He may actually have been Fiyero to more Elphabas than any other actor, I think.

As for your second comment--yes, it was. Saw them on Tour in 2006, then as themselves at Birdland during Steph's concert when they performed it last summer. Two entirely different performances, but both excellent.

re: Message from Stephanie J. Block about recent absences

I saw Annaleigh as Glinda 3 times- twice with Stephanie and once with Lisa. I thought that she was good with Steph and great with Lisa. I am not sure whether it was because she just improved in the role or whether Stephanie dominates the stage (in a good way)more than Lisa.

'I know Eden has been with more Glindas than any other Elphaba.'

For every Glinda you've been with, you've been with all the Fiyeros and Elphabas they've been with too.

Practice safe sex.

re: Message from Stephanie J. Block about recent absences

I saw Annaleigh and Lisa and they were amazing! There stage chemistry is probably the best I have ever seen. Annaleigh has improved so much since her first show! I also loved David as Fiyero and Miriam as Morrible!

I think Seb has the best chemistry with Julia. I loved those two together.
Hunter: Your teeth need whitening./ Heidi: You sound weird./ Jeff: You taste funny.
-Jeff Bowen's worst onstage line flub.

re: Message from Stephanie J. Block about recent absences

Did Stephanie go on as Elphaba during yesterday's matinee? When she returned earlier this month, she didn't do the Wed/Sat mat, so was wondering if that is still going to happen or if she is scheduled to perform in all 8 shows a week?

re: Message from Stephanie J. Block about recent absences

I'd like to know that too. I would love to catch Julie Rieber as Elphaba sometime and I'm figuring that a matinee would be my best chance. Now don't get me wrong I still love Steph to death but I like seeing other people in the roles also. Plus I have seen Steph 7 times now...LOL
Don't believe everything that you hear! Only the peeps involved know the truth!

re: Message from Stephanie J. Block about recent absences

I apologize in advance if I overlooked the information in this thread (I did look through all the posts and didn't see it) but do we know who is replacing Stephanie as Elphaba as of June 16th?
