I guess it's a Priscilla Lopez thing - the first two songs that come to mind are What I Did for Love and The Best in the World from Hollywood/Ukraine - didn't realize until I just looked it up in IBDB it was a Jerry Herman song.

Edited to add "My Brother Lived in San Francisco" from Elegies for Angels Punks and Raging Queens".

I really like Natalie Cortez's What I Did For Love a lot better than Priscilla's.

For me right now, I'd say The "I Love You" Song from ...Spelling Bee.

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert

"TOO MANY MORNINGS (Follies)
LOSING MY MIND (Follies)
BEING ALIVE (Company)
NO ONE IS ALONE (Into the Woods)"

Those were the first I thought of, as well as Your Daddy's Son from Ragtime and Eva's Final Broadcast from Evita.

All of the above often bring me to tears.

Also Goodbye Until Tomorrow from The Last Five Years, Send In the Clowns from A Little Night Music, Rose's Turn from Gypsy, and Fable from The Light In the Piazza.

i think he captures the little 12 year old in all of us that is vulnerable and good at the same time. anything from A NEW BRAIN, SPELLING BEE, FALSETTOS, etc.

i especially love "I'm Not That Smart" right now as i have it on my MYSPACE profile <3

Cabaret.

Its one of those songs that after you listen to it, you feel like you're on top of the world, no matter what mood you are in or what has happened to you that day. Its one of my favorite songs ever.

"I Don't Care Much" from Cabaret, preferably Jon Peterson's rendition because it's heart breaking. The song is just so sad...but I love it!

"Johanna" from Sweeney. If I were a dude, I'd totally use this song as an audition piece - it's beautiful.

"Somewhere" from West Side Story. No matter what, it makes me cry. It could be Bab's version, a marching band's version, some guy singing it on the A train...whatever. It always makes me cry.

"I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and dreamer of improbable dreams." - Doctor Who
