They seem to cut a lot from the movie. Sad to see Show must go on and One day I'll fly away get cut.
Is Nature Boy and Spectacular Spectacular still in the show?

Wait..so The Show Must Go On ISN'T in the show?! Nooo...that's my favorite part of the film!
I’m excited but Im worried about leaning heavy on contemporary songs. Where the movie was exciting in the old songs being used, all these new contemporary pop songs feels a little Glee-ish. So I can understand the titters in the audience.

Oh I’m disappointed by the contemporary song additions. Firework? Firework? FIREWORK?!?!
I’m glad I didn’t fly over for that specifically.
My favourite song in the show is The Show Must Go On, really disappointed that hasn’t made it in.
Also what a waste of Burnstein if he hasn’t a big solo.

I can only imagine that set transferring to the Lyric but I doubt Harry Potter would end any time soon

Question re. the poster for sale at the merchandise booths: is it generic, or does it mention the Emerson Colonial Theater?

Spectacular Spectacular isn't in this either?! I'm so confused by these changes

The Duke doesn’t attack Satine in this number (due to plot change) so the entire impact is lost. The song doesn’t have a clear ending either, I was sure it was going to have a massive finish after the scene at Duke’s place, but it never happened."
What is the plot change?

The underuse of Danny Burstein sounds criminal. Seeing him do “Like a Virgin” was the thing about this I was most excited about. Hope some changes occur to give him something to do.
Are the orchestrations still lush and gorgeous like they were in the film/film soundtrack?

Danny Burstein per his instagram seems okay with his role -- "Outstanding night. Holy cow. A night I’ll never forget. #firstpreview" As one of the earlier posters said he bent down and kissed the top of their head. Seemed in a good place emotionally.
As for the change in plot, I haven't seen it but just by reading interviews I've come up with this--non-definitive as it is The production didn't want the Duke to be a mustache-twirling villain as in the movie but rather a handsome, charismatic character in strong competition for Satine's heart. There doesn't seem to be a need for force. Someone who has seen it can add a "spoiler" comment if they want. This is just what I gleaned -- right or wrong.

Spoiler Alert: (I don’t know how to make that button thingy)
Satine does have a sexual relationship with the Duke from the first night they meet.
Quick set question as there arent many photos as yet, are those heart shaped borders always there in all the scenes? or can they fly out?
Of course he's fine with it. It's exciting to be a part of something with so much anticipation and buzz. This "it's a waste not to have him sing" is a fan feeling -- not the actor. I'm not saying he doesn't want to, or might not have been disappointed had any song he had (or thought he would) disappeared.

They fly out.

Also, Danny Burstein was not in the original Lab for MR. Eric Thompson (who looks to be a separated at birth from Jim Broadbent), signed to play Pretty Woman's Barney Thompson (role played by Hector Elizondo in the PW flick) in October just before the start of the Moulin Rouge Lab. I agree that this much buzzed production would seem an exciting venture for the talented Burstein. And maybe he looked out at the current potential musical landscape for himself and liked it even more.

Is that song list a joke? Man alive. I'm all about giving it a chance once I see it...but the exclusion of great songs from the movie for some of this nonsense is very off-putting.

I don't like commenting on a show I haven't seen, but I'm not on board with this change. In fact, I hate it. Duping The Duke is 1/2 of the movie, and reducing it to a love triangle sounds horrible.
There is no way of knowing why the choices were made? Couldn't get the rights? Too expensive? Didn't feel they could choreograph/perform it appropriately on stage.
Since the film is not one I liked all that much, I'm not attached to any of it.
So Like a Virgin and the proposal song with Christian, Satine, Zidler, and the Duke are gone

"Only Girl in the World" could actually be a great number for Olivo as Satine. I assume she sings it?
