Alrighty...am i the only one who think Michelle has overstayed her welcome in Wicked?... lol....
Well as long as she is able to sustain her performance...I doubt she's going to get another Broadway gig with the NESSAROSE paycheck...
that's true...
money equals the win lol..
but still... i think i would be getting bored with it. she is still amazing though in the role.
She's one of the few consistent performances in the Broadway production.
I understand her want to stay, but it just reminds me of Adam hanging out at Aida too long. After awhile it'll just become sad...
It's ok Michelle! I have faith that you will work again!
Aww, she's still a fresh one compared to some others. How long have Kathy Fitzgerald and Peter Marinos been in The Producers?
If she's enjoying herself in a minor role, and getting paid enough, why does it matter how long she stays? It's not like anyone will bring anything new to the role, or for that matter, be allowed to. Mary Bond Davis was with Hairspray forever, there were cats in Cats forever. Why not gain a reputation as a reliable supporting player? (Although she was out when I saw it the second time).

Um...
Am I the only one who found her to be just plain... okay? I don't know. I found her performance to be boring. The second time I saw it, still disliking the show, I found more love for the character because I saw her understudy who I adored but who's name I've forgotten.
trash, I didn't find her to be particularly special. Not BAD, but certainly nothing to write home about.
Her understudy looks a lot like her too. When I saw the understudy I just thought Federer was having a bad night, since they failed to stuff my Playbill with her out notice. I found one on the floor during intermission. I thought the understudy was pretty bland.
I find this thread to be very rude. She was cast in the role for a reason, because she is talented and because she could do it 8 times a week. The fact that she's still with the show tells you what stamina she has.
I guess some folks are never happy. I've seen folks complain because ________wasn't in the show, or __________ is leaving the show and no one can replace them, ever ever ever! So, now we start an entire new way of bashing performers, by saying they "needs to leave".
Maybe, one day, if you are lucky enough to have a job performing in a Broadway production, you will learn a few things:
A: These jobs don't come along everyday...or week, or sometimes MONTHS for that matter.
B: To be part of a huge hit show is a VERY RARE occasion. So, not only did you win the lotto to even be in a show, of any sort, you won the lottery by landing a role in a HUGE SMASH HIT. Why you think anyone would be “bored with it” is beyond me. And in the same breath you praise her by saying, “she is still amazing though in the role.”
What’s your point?
Could you imagine having to change your job every six months to a year because someone "fresh" needs to come in? As much as I feel like running away from work sometimes, I don't want to change my job very frequently -- and I try to find ways to make it new.
Remember that it is like a regular everyday common place ordinary job as well. I think many people not in "the business" forget about that. I remember talking to Marlene once and we talked about her being in CATS for it's entire run. She said that it was a steady paycheck, she had two homes and put her son through college plus it was a great part that she had a lot of fun with. Can't beat that!
Adam stayed with AIDA as long as he did because he was getting an amazing pay check and had a wife and small children at home. I'm sure Michelle is making a great salary as well.
What you have to remember is that performing in these shows for Broadway performers is their day job. It's their bread and butter.
Hanna hit it right on. If you have a good job, sometimes you stay even if you yearn to move on. As long as you can keep it fresh...

very true.. i just assume doing it over and over and over again.. would get boring after a while.. lol..but i do see your point. i would just want to do something different after a while...but if you love the role, why would you?

Amen, Hanna and Michael.
And she doesn't have to love the role. But if she hasn't gotten a better offer yet, why should she leave Orsomething? She's making good money. There aren't a lot of jobs out there.
Also, if you're used to a $5,000 a week pay check, the thought of the salary cut you'd take going to unemployment is enough to cure a lot of performer's boredom.

If we're on the subject can we dicuss why Matt Caplan, Carey Shields and Karmine Alers keep going back to Rent . . . I think feel the whole show needs to be recast with some fresh raw talent
Prior to Swingin' on a Star, Kathy Fitzgerald worked in Phoenix a lot. She may not want to risk having to come back here. Even though she is VERY well known in the Valley.
Michelle is leaving January 8th.
As long as a performer keeps it fresh and lively, they could stay forever.
Do mechanics ever get bored working on cars?
Do doctors ever get bored curing people?
Do the folks at McDonalds get bored making the 50th billion Big Mac?
Yes, they all do. It’s called a job. Sometimes it can be repetitive.
Does it get old? Perhaps but part of your job as an actor is to indeed make it fresh and keep a new spin on it. The longest run I've ever had was 9 months. I could do that part in my sleep if I wanted to but I found myself constantly working on the role and not phoning it in.
As much as it seems like it might become boring, you still have to keep focus. I worked with an actress who had done several hundred performances of a particular musical and one night on stage, she just blanked out on the words to a song. The other actors on stage were about to jump in and help, but she got back on track. Besides, I'd much rather perform the same role in a show using artistic talents than answering phones, making copies, or cleaning up dirty dishes. Talk about bland!!!
LOL
Michelle's amazing. She's a great Nessarose. I really never get/got bored of her. She's incredible and if she wants to stay, I have no objection.
Same here Wonderboy. My record was 5,386 performances of...well, something. Sometimes, you just do what you have to do to keep it fresh.
