I'm really digging the revamped orchestrations.

Pretty flashy poster and the arrangements sound really dope. I guess this means a trailer will be coming soon.

Sounds good... I wonder who's on the music team for this (besides, of course, Sklar and Beguelin).

I may be technically deficient, but where are you hearing the arrangements? I only can find the poster.

Award contender, with Meryl Streep involved and a December release date, absolutely

Is there but guess we will see!!

I don't see it as a major awards contender, though I pretty much expect Streep to get nominated. This will get favorable reviews- I'm thinking maybe a 70-75% on Rotten Tomatoes. For me, it will be fluff fun, with an important message, good music, and a worthwhile escape from the horrible world we will still be living in. Which, quite honestly, is what we all need right now.

Is this one of the fastest turn around times for a show premiering on Broadway to be adapted and released as a film? I cannot think of one as quick as this.

Although I don't like Streep in musicals, and I am a big fan of hers, I am looking forward to this. It was my favorite musical that season. I also found the art work for the Broadway show fun.

I adore the opening night artwork, but the one they switched to in December 2018 just feels so lifeless

Considering how often it seems musical movies are put into development hell (here's looking at you, Wicked), this one was indeed incredibly speedy- especially when considering The Prom was hardly a hit to begin with.
Can't imagine this will be an awards contender, aside from maybe a token Streep nomination at the Globes. It's pretty lightweight, solid B-grade material.

Watching the teaser with the poster reveal and the new orchestration of the overture made me teary.
I am so excited for this as someone who loved the show so much (as you can tell from my avatar) and I can't wait for more people to experience the show from the movie.

I don't think it will be an awards contender, but it will be a fun, heart-warming, light, and fluffy movie musical that the world actually needs right now.
