Snagged the pic from someone on LJ...but yeah. It's different, to say the least.
What do you think?
I saw it yesterday, but I couldn't get a picture. I tried to describe it in some other post.
Anyway, I don't like it. I liked how simple and understated the old ones were.
Before long they are going to have to advertise the play with the "RENT LIVE ON STAGE" tag that they had to slap on CHICAGO after the film came out.
There are like two things in that poster that are relevent to the show. Kinda pointless. Don't really like it.
I don't get the doves, or the legs popping out of the side, or the butterfly, or the color...ok, so I don't get most of it.

That's what I thought, g. I understand that they're doing a lot of re-vamping to get ready for the surge of attention after the movie, but this thing is ugly.
i loved the old poster... whats the need for a new one?

I think this might actually drive people away. I don't know. If I knew nothing about the show and I saw that poster I don't think I would be interested in getting a ticket.
Someone's comment on LJ about summed up how I feel about it...
"it looks like bad graphics that scene kids make and post in their myspace "
I hate the. The only posters I ever really like for RENT were the original ones....
Ew!
Why wouldn't they just stick with the originals, especially since the movie posters feature an "ironic" resemblance
It looks cartoony.
But maybe they're trying to emphasize the New York City element.
makes me wanna call the theatre and tell them to yank those down.
I liked the most recent ones that they were using. The ones with Cary, and Antoinique, and...and...the guy whose name that I can't remember even though I should remember.
I didn't even look like those recent ones...that pose with the guitar made it look very...boy-band-like or something.

No. Just, no.
Especially since Antoinique just started playing Mimi again.
