Ivanna Trump!
Or Delta Burke? Yeah - I like the idea of Delta Burke, or even her former co-star Jean Smart. They both can sing and do great comedy.

I'm not Robbie... but Marissa Jaret Winokur is 45. She might make a great Dolly in 20 years."
And...Carol Channing was 43 when she originated it. So you're wrong.

Do you think it would have the staying power to remain open for a while with big star casting. I really hope it is able to have a long list of stars take on the title. It’s such a fabulous production.
And i mean... cher is free in the fall. According to her show schedule ??
They will need someone with a bigger name than Bernadette to keep it open, which basically eliminates every Broadway star with the exception of perhaps Audra or (if a short run and a closing notice) Patti LuPone. The name becomes even more important as time goes forward because the natural/built-in audience for the show that would have gone regardless of star will get thinner and thinner.

For the love of Christ and everything he stood for, PLEASE let it be a woman of color. ANY COLOR. We deserve another Pearl Bailey moment. Audra. Jenifer Lewis. Lillias. There's plenty to choose from. JUST like we deserve a JENNA that isn't white, but I digress.......
My top choices would be Megan Mullally during her break from taping WILL & GRACE or Jane Krakowski, who is younger than most of the names being tossed around but who'd bring a Murphy-level of joy and sensuality to the part. More realistically, Reba would be fantastic. And though I imagine the Audra McDonald rumors are just that, she'd make for a glorious Dolly. Gosh, think of what a brilliant Dolly Levi Jan Maxwell would have made (not that I realistically think she'd have been cast as a full-time Dolly).
Let's also hope they get a fine comedian like David Hyde Pierce as a Horace replacement. I adore Victor Garber and thought he was a sweet Horace -- I missed the sharp comedy and no-nonsense approach of David Hyde Pierce nonetheless, it makes the emotional and cathartic payoff from the prelude to "So Long, Dearie" through the end of the show that much more powerful.

I think Baranski would not make a great Dolly at all. Reba, Dolly, Cher, Latifah...are all better choices in my opinion.
Of course, never count Carol out! ??
