ONCE Songwriter Glen Hansard Dead at 56

Irish musician/songwriter Glen Hansard has died in a motorcycle crash at the age of 56.

One of his best known credits was starring alongside Markéta Irglová in John Carney’s 2007 independent film, Once, for which they also wrote the soundtrack, including the Oscar-winning hit, ‘Falling Slowly.’ The movie served as the basis for the 2012 Tony-winning stage musical of the same name. Actor Steve Kazee originated Hansard’s character, Guy, in the show, which won him Best Lead Actor in a Musical.

Such a moving moment in the show. Absolutely adored ONCE. So sad to hear about Glen's passing.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
