My daughter and I are going again, on Saturday, 1/14, the evening show. For stagedooring, the guys didn't come out after the 12/28 matinee (not surprising). But do they usually come out after the second show?

I went on 12/28 too, the evening show and they came out. Probably one of the best stage dooring experiences I've ever had!
Just wondering who the guests were that made it through the snow yesterday.

I was at last night's performance. There was not a celebrity guest. At first I was disappointed, but the audience member was so wonderful. They chose a very impressive 12 year old boy. He was awesome. They asked him typical questions, like what he wants to be when he grows up- a biologist! He likes to listen to Radiolab and This American Life- a very sophisticated 12 year old. When they asked him his hobbies, he said he likes to sculpt-not a typical 12 year old's hobby. They asked the young man to tell them about sculpting and he said he likes to sculpt animals out of wax. Then his friend, brought up a piece of wax from the audience and placed it on the stage. When the boys sent him back to his seat, they told him to make something out of the wax by the end of the show. They were being kind of snarky, but the boy took them up on it. I peeked over at him during the show, and noticed he was busy at work. At the end, he had made an elk... Nick Kroll asked him if it was a moose and the boy said, "no, it's an elk." It was amazing. It was such a beautiful little elk. Such a cool kid. He was awesome.
I went for matinee yesterday and the celeb guest was Austin Pendleton (sp?) he is in his 70s and had quite a resume. He was in the original production of Fiddler that was also held at the Lyceum! Really funny guy and that set was almost 20 mins! I'll admit I never heard of him until then but looked him up later on Wikipedia and his resume is quite extensive!
Sometime the audience guest can be good! Ours was an amusing woman. Sounds like that young man was pretty cool too!
I love Austin Pendleton. He is soooo funny in the film What's Up Doc, which by the way is not on Netflix and my daughter has never seen it. Anyone know where to find it?
Sally - I watched it on amazon a few years ago. Not sure if it's on prime or anything like that

I just really did not enjoy this show. It should have been performed as a 15 minute funny or die skit. It's the same joke repeatedly. The random audience Guest was the only part I consistently liked. Someone please explain to me why people were laughing? There was nothing original about it.

You may just not like the type of humor that they provide. Some people just don't like it. I loved it, however, but I knew their humor before I saw the show.

They found it funny.
My daughter's a huge fan of John Mulaney. She convinced me to watch a couple of his standup videos and he is VERY funny in them. This show is not that, and as such I think it would be more suited for Off-Broadway. But here it is and here we are.
I'm a huge John Mulaney fan and I showed my mom some clips of his standup is well and she loved it. He really has a specific type of humor, I think either you love it or hate it.

Consistently? So, you don't like the show, but you keep on going back repeatedly?

On January 12, the guest was Kelli O'Hara. She said how she has played a few characters who start off racist, in the revivals she has done. They also talked about being from Oklahoma, and if she does "tipdincing" which she didn't quite understand at first. She was of course delightful & made for an amusing guest!

Omg I would have died if my guest was Kelli!!! That sounds so funny that she didn't understanding tipdincing
The special guest last night was Josh Charles (The Good Wife, Sports Night, Dead Poets Society). The guys did a good job with him. We were seated in Row D center orchestra and there was a great deal of involvement with the front of the house which was a lot of fun for us. At stage door, as others have said, the guys were great with the crowd. Autographing playbills, taking selfies with fans, and chit chatting. This was the first time my daughter, below with John, has ever wanted to stage door. She picked a good one."/>
A friend went Tuesday night and the guest was former U.S. Congressman Barney Frank. She said Frank was hilarious.
Last night was Alan Cumming. He told this amazing story about being way too high with Brooke Shields at Tavern on the Green for a benefit honoring Jane Fonda.
Sally, so glad your daughter had fun! I have to say it was probably the best stage dooring experience I've ever had. The security guard was insanely nice and told us about the theater and some stories about John and Nick, and reassured us that they were coming out constantly. There were only about 3 barricades set up and barely 40 people showed up. Everyone around us was a Mulaney or Kroll fan and people waved and talked with John's wife who works on crew. The best part was when they came out! They were insanely nice and talked with people and overall were wonderful. If anyone sees it this week and is debating on stagedooring, I recommend doing it even if you don't know them, it's a great time!
