Hi all! Big fan of this production of Company and am heartbroken it is closing without a cast album. I'm not sure how else to convey to Chris Harper how badly us fans want this album to be produced other than aggregating signatures in a petition. Figured it's worth a shot.
Please sign below and circulate to all your Company-loving friends and family. Hopefully this can make a difference before the show closes next month!
Get your head out of the clouds. This petition –– and any petition related to Broadway financial decisions –– is a waste of your and everyone else's time. A show is a business entity, and as much as we all would LIKE an album, this business entity owes you nothing.
If you want to make a difference, offer an investment of $1million of your own money.

They've assessed things and this is unfortunately the reality of the situation.
They already recorded Patti singing the score with these orchestrations. This production has already been immortalized. It's just the actors who are different.
Ermengarde made a valid point; cast recording cost $$$. And money they aren't likely to make back on the sale of said recording. Sure, they MIGHT....but since I'm sure this production is closing as a financial flop, they'd be foolish to throw away more money.
Would I LOVE a recording? Yes, I would buy it in an instance. But a petition isn't going to do a darned thing.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
If you're interested in all this gender-flipping nonsense (which I'm not), there's already the London recording (which I'm not a fan of). Wake up; they got it right in 1970. It's the best recording of the score there ever was or ever will be. Only 300 performances of the current production speaks for itself.
Petitions have zero effect. Unless it’s a Kickstarter or GoFundMe where actual donated funds happen, these petitions don’t have any effect. The COMPANY revival IS fully aware that a Broadway Cast Recording is a high request (even my 2 friends in the show and the entire cast, including LuPone, wants one!). It’s the producer’s choice to pay for one to be recorded. Petitions without funds are hilarious. This isn’t a student council voting situation.

Tell me you haven't seen the show without telling me you haven't seen the show.
300 performances, over the course of 3 years, halted and then under the constant strain of an ongoing pandemic, with a slew of cancelled performances/revenue due to said pandemic. Yeah you're really exposing just how terrible this 5-time Tony Award winning production is. Wowwwww. Bravo.
FWIW, the PBC documentary is excellent and while it obviously doesn't include the whole show, it includes A LOT of footage from the show –– enough, I hope, to satisfy people while also not losing more money on a cast album that will never recoup (because cast albums are usually money-losers unless the show is a massive financial hit).

Or....you could have apologized for your unnecessary rudeness.
I think these "London to Broadway" shows that keep at least one actor from England that have already been recorded have to be RUNAWAY hits to get another cast recording. Or they have to not have been recorded already
Look at Sister Act
We probably got the Trevor Nunn recording cause Catherine Zeta Jones/they didn't have one in the UK.

"
And the longest running Company revival.
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife

It's their modus operandi for how they treat a lot of posters on this board. Not worth it.
I love your enthusiasm for this production, it was wonderful. But, the London recording of this exact show already exists. I don't care for it myself and would love to hear the same voices I heard on stage in New York, but I think it would have been recorded a long time ago if it was going to happen.

Yes, CZJ and Lansbury are much bigger names than anyone in COMPANY, from a sales standpoint, and it was also the first Bway revival of ALNM.
12 years ago, physical media was much bigger than it is now, and streaming was not really a thing –– if people wanted to listen, they had to buy a CD or buy the album for $11.99 on iTunes. Much has changed, and I don't think most people in the Cast Album biz would say that streaming has helped them.
Tommy Krasker was a big factor in getting those Sondheim albums recorded, too. Passion at Classic Stage, Road Show, revivals of Pacific Overtures and Sunday (London). The landscape has changed.
I know no producer (other than Ken Davenport) would do this, but I’d love to see a Kickstarter for this. Let them say “This is how much we need to feel ok about doing this. If you’re serious about it preorder through the campaign or give more support” and see what happens. It’s probably unlikely that enough would be contributed but it’d be interesting to see

I'd support this in a second. While I imagine many people here would kick in a few dollars, I would definitely go a bit further and be willing to drop in a few hundred.
