No one could have fathomed the shutdowns would have taken as long as they did hence why no renovations were done.

Isn’t that how West End shows work anyway? I always interpreted it as they extend booking periods and they would announce a final extension/closing rather than confirming anything is “open-ended”.

Finally Finally Finally! I've been waiting for this news. Although.......this is starting to feel like taking a band-aid off very slowly instead of just ripping it off lol. Now I should be able to get tix for my 88th, 89th, and 90th performances at the Majestic! I just wanted to get to 90 shows. Thank goodness tomorrow is payday. Ugh tickets to those April performances are going to be insane aren't they?

Delay just seems like such a negative word. Delays happen because of COVID or technical issues. This is a good thing. It's an extension.

From what I was told, an announced closing is basically the equivalent of legally terminating a lease, with the announced closing date being the termination date. Any extension would have to be approved by the landlord. If the Shuberts already have a tenant lined up post-renovation, then this would definitely be it.

Cameron Macintosh is the lead producer, and has demonstrated that he can do whatever he wants, without Andrew Lloyd Webber's input. He would only keep the show running (notwithstanding the closing notice) if it made him money. Webber propping up the show with his own money wouldn't earn him a dime."

I've never really thought about this before, so it was very interesting. Thank you (no sarcasm, seriously. I thought it's very interesting)!

I don't think this is actually the case. For the Broadway production, the deal was 70% ALW, 30% Cameron. RUG have overruled Mackintosh several times previously (for a start, with the choice of the Majestic as the venue). Mackintosh can't do anything without ALW giving the greenlight on this show, however much ALW keeps claiming he has had nothing to do with what happened to the London production and his relative silence on the demise of the Broadway production.

if there is one thing you can always count on ALW for its his pride

Given his bizarre decisions and choices in recent years...really?

They posted this online yesterday across their social media channels: Our final block of tickets will be on sale tomorrow (TODAY, NOV. 30) at 10 AM Eastern Time. Please note there will be a waiting room system in place, so be prepared for potential waiting periods in a virtual line in order to purchase tickets. The final performance will be held off sale at this time — we will announce if tickets are released!

Yes, I know (thanks). I'm wondering if anyone received a direct notification, as the site promised when you registered. It's very odd that both the official Phantom site and Telecharge still say February 18 is the closing and it's just a few minutes before 10am.

Since the 14th was the fundraiser, I looked at both performances on the 15th... nearly the whole orchestra is held off and everything left is $200-500+. Guess like it's not in the cards for me unless they release more before then.

OMG....more than an HOUR wait to buy tickets? Oy. (and I'm more curious about prices then anything else.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I found my "usual" seat (AA1) for 318 for the final Wednesday matinee and then I gave up and got one in the front mezz for the final Thursday night. Now to try for Wednesday night. I would really love to sit in the orchestra again, but I HAVE to sit on the aisle and they are all 518 unless it's way way in the back under the mezz overhang. I've never enjoyed the show from back there.

Really? I'm still able to get right in! Was able to get one of the $165 rear mezz seats for 4/15. The prices are:

Rear Mezz- $165, $185, $215

Front Mezz- $268, $318, $518

Orchestra- $268, $318, $518

Apparently a lot of people have been able to get tix. The Saturday night performance on April 15, one away from the final performance, is just about sold out, even with almost the entire orchestra at $518. Wow. We Phans are certainly a wild bunch.

I got online at 9:57 and ended up in the waiting room. Finally got in at 10:07, so not so bad.

I quickly narrowed it down to a Monday or Tuesday in February, since the highest price for those were $299 ($318 with fees). Wednesdays were immediately higher, then the weekend higher still. Those Mondays and Tuesdays jumped up to $399/$418 in March, and then the $499/$518 in April (if not sooner).

The $299/$318 is still higher than I've ever paid for a ticket before (and more than I should), so I'll be happy with my Tuesday night seat in February, to see it up close one more time.

A distinct area of the center orchestra was not available for sale for both performances on the 15th when I was able to get in a few minutes early before 10 ET. I'm curious if they're being held off... for either invited guests (there's NO WAY they could fit everyone they'd want to like alumni on the 16th) or to be released closer to time.

For those still trying: 45 minute wait to get through the waiting room. Wanted tickets for March 11 matinee. About 2/3 of the orchestra and first 2 rows center front mezz were $518 Premium seats. Too expensive. Seats then under consideration were Front Mezz R Center on the aisle Row E $199 + fees=$431/pair . Having seen it once, decided to pass at those prices. Almost the entire Mezzanine and the large majority of the Orchestra were unsold as of 11am.

I'm happy that I was able to get tickets to the 35th anniversary performance, which looks like it is now sold out. To me, it was a priority to snatch tickets to that performance, which I thought would be a bigger milestone, than to wait and see if they would release any public tickets for the final show.

I was able to snag a ticket for the 35th anniversary performance, but ended up selling it because I'm waiting for Wicked's anniversary instead. I understand the milestone for Phantom, but I think I'm a bigger Wicked fan. So thrilled for you though!
