PLAYBILL Covers of the 2021-2022 Season

I've been waiting for this thread! I thought about starting it myself a few times, but it doesn't feel official unless it's started by GreasedLightning!

LOVE the Company cover - as I did last year - and I can't wait to add it to my collection. I also like the changes made to the Girl From the North Country artwork.

Not at all a fan of the new Mrs. Doubtfire cover, although I hope this helps clear up any confusion about what the show's official title is.

Also not too fond of the new cover for The Lehman Trilogy, especially compared to the older one. I'm wondering if the classic-style covers that Rudin became known for will become a thing of the past, or if any of those taking the reigns on his productions will continue with that tradition.

I love most the designs, although I prefer the old JLP playbill cover. It was unique. Mrs. Doubtfire looks like a badly done cutout in photoshop. There was no thought paid to the design of that playbill... American Utopia, Girls from the North Country, Dana H. and is This a Room are my absolute favorite. Chicken and bisquits cover makes me hungry :)

Mrs. Doubtfire feels like it's from the school of Tootsie but I don't hate it. If we're talking about basic photoshop, I hope an intern was responsible for Is That A Room and Dana H and not an actual ad company. Phantom and Hadestown are cute. I like the extra petals.

I think playbills for Is That A Room and Dana H have that "true crime podcast" theme, which is really fitting for both plays. I'm looking forward to adding these to my collection in November.

Woah, the Caroline, or Change Playbills at Studio 54 are in color! (I tried putting the actual Playbill.com cover photo on here since I didn't see it above, but I can't figure out how to get the image URL feature to work. If someone wants to troubleshoot or do it for me that'd be appreciated wink)

Color covers are better for social media engagement.

Sometimes shows also just do the cover in color for the month of opening to "look good" for the critics.

Or perhaps Playbill changed the price structure for printing in color vs B&W?

The Caroline, or Change Playbills are STUNNING. I hope they are still in color when I see the show in November!

I'm surprised BOM is still using the older Playbill design with borders, especially since they re-designed the cover art. I assume the Waitress one will be for once Jennifer Nettles leaves if they don't bring in another star for Jenna? Really love the new Cursed Child design.

I forgot about Clyde's.

Aside from not loving the jacket, I think that Diana cover is actually pretty perfect.

Slave Play is... hrm.

Waitress is sad without a lead actress on the cover. I wish it didn't look so empty.

So, they're actually going to use that Funny Girl art...still not good IMO. The Scottish Play on the other hand, seems so bold and striking

Funny Girl terrified me when I scrolled past it. The Macbeth cover looks like a cool graphic novel. It's a smart way of highlighting the stars while doing more than say, Plaza Suite.

I think the Funny Girl art is fabulous. Not understanding the complaints about it.
