They've been doing 1-2 new works each season, so any of these could be something we don't know about yet (except Hercules, which has already been announced)

– 1 is probably Murder on the Orient Express and not Hello Dolly

– 5 seems like Kinky Boots, except now there's this Off-Bway production....Legally Blonde? Wizard of Oz seems too obvious.

– Something Christmas-related for the Deer (Elf again?) or candle (A Christmas Carol)

– Candle = Candle in the Wind = Diana?

They've been producing new material, so it's hard to figure these out.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

These used to be a lot more creative. Maybe they should give up this guess game thing if they aren't even going to try.

Ffs. It’s an emoji guessing game with ZERO stakes. The announcement comes out on Tuesday. If you’re not up for a little, no harm social media fun just wait a few days and move on.

I’d guess: 1. Murder on the Orient Express 2. Wait Until Dark 3. Elf 4. Hercules 5. Here Lies Love

The train could be Starlight Express or On The Twentieth Century.

The red high heel may refer to The Life.

I believe the red high heel is the long-rumored musical adaptation of the film Burlesque.

Whats interesting is I heard Todrick Hall was attached to this project at one point, but given a lot of recent controversy surrounding him I wonder if that is still the case?

I hadn’t heard about Burlesque - who is the creative team?

I'm guessing the deer and mountain are THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

The microphone and red heels is the regional premiere of "On Your Feet". I can't remember where I read it (I think these boards maybe), but something clicked.

If that’s the show, it’s pretty misleading as that deer has antlers which means it’s a buck not a doe, a deer, a female deer.

Unless they are opening earlier in the summer than they typically do the Engeman is beating them for the "regional premiere" of On Your Feet, as they open that in mid-July (not that Papermill can't also be doing the show, of course)

I would have guessed The Bodyguard if they hadn't already done that. I can definitely see it being a jukebox musical.

Anyway, if the other one is Hercules, I might have to take the train to NJ.

I think The Muny actually beat both of them to this, since On Your Feet was in their season last summer.

100% is Sound of Music. It was on their 2020-2021 schedule when Covid happened and is one of the 3 shows from the Covid cancellations that has not been re-scheduled yet (the other two being Aida and Bruce).

The second emoji pretty much confirms without a doubt Hercules and the train + magnifying glass is a strong case for Murder on the Orient Express.

Candle + City... Rent? Perhaps they will sit down the tour set as a final FINAL farewell to the original staging? Is it just me or it the original Rent staging feeling like Cher on a 5th farewell tour these days?

Mic + Heel could still be The Life as someone mentioned above. The Heel because of the original logo and the mic because it's coming off the Encores CONCERT performance?

Is there a Murder On the Orient Express musical in the works or is it likely the Ken Ludwig play?

#21

Play. Papermill usually does at least one play a season so that would be their one play and the rest musicals.

As others have posted, I was mistaken and it's not the regional premiere of "On Your Feet".

However, a quick search will lead you to the show on Concord Theatricals, where it lists an upcoming production at Papermill in October/November

Well there ya go.

ON YOUR FEET

HERCULES

SOUND OF MUSIC

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

and I just cannot see them doing RENT, but maybe

that's a pretty boring season unless the candle show is some big new exciting musical. I guess Hercules will have substantial changes from the Public, since there's a new bookwriter, and will be interesting to see how it varies and if it can go anywhere.

I guess they never did an official announcement, but they updated their profile pic on their socials.
