Hey all...two of my friends were at last nights SWEENEY and said that during A Little Priest the chair slipped from underneath Patti and she fell with it landing on top of her. She went on with the song, but was really rattled to the point where Michael eventually grabbed her in a death grip and held on to her where he was standing...
Can anyone verify this?
Thanks!
~Meg~
That must of been SO embrassing for Patti!
I know that XoxRogue was there last night. She posted this last night in the OT Banal thread:
The second is...well, Patti stumbling off the chair and almost falling on the ground. It was at the end of 'A Little Priest' when Patti and Michael are stepping onto the coffin. They both stepped onto the chairs fine, and when they went to put a leg on the coffin, Michael did it fine, but Patti's chair...slipped and fell over and she stumbled back. Michael still had her hand and she flipped the chair upright and it took a bit, but she was up on the coffin at the end of the song. And they didn't miss a beat.
*tries to visualize this*
The chair was under her, she slipped off it... and it ended up on top of her?
Regardless of the "oops"... that's unfortunate. Sounds like it really shook her up too. Was her "Act II" okay? I assume she recovered enough during intermission.
EDIT: Fantabulous428---Thanks for posting the explanation.
That's just really scary for both Patti(as the actor) and the audience watching it...

I was there last night. She didn't miss a beat, though the whole audience was holding their breath.
It appeared that she slipped and the chair fell out from underneath her, tripping over. It made a huge THUNK, but she was able to save herself. She got onto the coffin by the end, but you could see Michael's death grip from the mezz. This after she almost lost her hat ealier while dancing.
Nothing seemed wrong in Act 2 or that she had hurt anything.
I, sort of, jumped foward in my seat with an "OMG!" look on my face. It was scarey, and I was glad that Michael had such a good grip on her hand.
Edit: Yes, "death grip" is a good way to describe it.(And I was in the mezz too.)
it's those damn heels. when i saw the show she almost toppled over during that song. it's a good thing the cobbler didn't hurt Benjamin Barker cause i know Mrs. Lovett woulda got him FIRST!

Oh god, I hope she's okay!! I would have jumped out of my seat! That's so scary!! Good thing it was the last song before intermission so she could take a break.

Yeah, thank GOD she's all right. And they both kept going! Talk about performers!
Side note: singer JoJo was there too. She sat behind my friend Brooklyn. :P
I thought she was in Chicago for Gypsy? Not yet?
The first performance that she will miss for that will be on July 25. She'll return on August 15th.
Yes, imagine trying to go on with THAT song after an accident! She's quite the trouper! I'm glad she's okay.
Scary stuff... Glad she is OK and that Michael was able to be there for her

OMG, she fell as she was climbing the chair last night and Michael grabbed onto her while they were fixing the chair, and he kept the show going. Everything must have been fine afterwards cause when she came out of the stagedoor she seemed to be walking fine.

It was scary. Patti hung on to people really tightly when she was stepping on and off things, but she kept it together really well. (and JoJo was two rows in front of me.)

Be nice! :)
