Me and a friend of mine wanted to sing You And Me (but mostly me) from The Book Of Mormon for a choir project, but our teacher said it needs to be a classic theatre song and that TBOM was too contemporary. Does anyone know any good, classic, non-romantic theatre duets? (They can be two guys, m/f, or two girls, as long as it doesn't affect the meaning too much (my partner is a soprano and I'm a tenor btw))

Cole Porter's "Friendship" is about as classic platonic as it gets, as is "You're the Top."
"If Momma Was Married" is pretty neutral in regards to the singers' genders, though not sure how it would sound vocally.
"Pretty Women" could make an interesting choice.
Chicago has both "Class" and "My Own Best Friend" that could both work as male/female duets that avoid any hint of romance.
"All for the Best" from Godspell.
"On the Right Track" from Pippin.
"The Show Biz" (cut from Ragtime) could be fun.

Those are all good options, I'll look into them. I was thinking Anything You Can Do, but I wanted some other options too. I wanted to do something from Chicago, but I couldn't think of anything, so I'll be sure to listen to those. I absolutely love Pretty Women (it'll be a little bit ironic because neither of us like girls but that's fine), and I think that would sound awesome. I'm not sure if the Judge's part is low enough to bring an octave up and still have it fit comfortably in my range, but I'll try it. I've heard A Little Night Music has some good platonic duets, I'll listen to that one. The one from Ragtime sounds fun, I'll listen to that too. I actually watched the gender-bent version of If Momma was Married with Christian Borle and Jonathan Groff while I was looking for songs, I'll consider that one as well.

Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner did an arrangement of "Pretty Women" on their Unsuspecting Hearts album that would be worth checking out for possible ideas of how to adjust it. It's out of print, but it looks like used copies are pretty cheap on Amazon.

Bosom Buddies, from Mame.
Honest Man, from Bajour. (not a classic show, to put it mildly, but a good duet all the same.)

What about "Perfect Strangers" from The Mystery of Edwin Drood? That's lovely.

“ You're Nothing Without Me” from City of Angels. Fun song - appropriate for either gender, and it hasn’t been done to death like some of the others mentioned.

“You’re Just In Love” from Call Me Madam
"My New philosophy" from You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (Sally's part might be a little bit bigger but it's a fun number to do together)
"Soon" from A Little Princess
"Partner in Crime" from Tuck Everlasting (probably too contemporary but I still wanted to include it)
"I'm the bravest individual" from Sweet Charity
Lily's Eyes, a duet for a baritone and a tenor
