a) I'm not usually one to do this, but it's Cast Recording, not soundtrack
b) I believe they're saying May now

And amazingly, since this is a theater board, I knew, INSTINCTIVELY, that the original poster meant the album of the show, or as my new coinage dictates, the Broadway Ditty Disk of High Fidelity.
Not to add on since honesty the words are interchangeable to me, but High Fidelity was originally a motion picture and therefore could have a soundtrack available for purchase.
But yeah, several people on here pre ordered it. Some paid in cash others by credit card. The CD has been recorded, I believe their waiting for Tony time in early May to release it.
Thank you, fen.
Why people are so anal about the soundtrack/cast album thing is beyond me.
LIGHTEN UP.
Because its not a ****ing Soundtrack.
I hear its being released as a double cd set with Lestat.

youre RIGHT, Bobby, it's not a soundtack, it's a Ditty Disk (tm).
A cast recording and a soundtrack are both CDs, so it shouldn't matter, right?
It's like calling a dog a cat. They're both mammals right?
They are not the same thing. Everything has a proper name, so instead of arguing why not just call things what they are?

Its not a big deal, everyone knew what he meant, even in this case when High Fidelity actually has what some would call a proper soundtrack since it was a film.
But even so, people understood what he meant, this a perfect example of what's been discussed in the past.
Even with this possible confusion looming in the air, the context of the sentence (pre-order), etc would give even the dimmest bulbs in the room the inkling of the true intention of the poster.
the previous poster gave the (very weak) analogy of a calling a dog a cat.
Well, not looking at the context of a sentence for meaning is like driving without paying attention to the traffic signals, sooner or later youre going to get into an accident, and it's going to be your own fault.
No, it's not like calling a dog a cat.
It's like calling a Movie a Film or a Picture.
Fenchurch- I understood what he meant from the context of the sentence. I just don't see why people are so set on calling things by the wrong name, even when they know full well that there is name that is widely accepted as the proper term.
It's not like calling a movie a film or a picture. A film and a picture are two names for the same thing.
A soundtrack is a CD made from the SOUND TRACK of a film. A cast recording is a studio recorded version of a show. I suppose if they were to record the CD using the audio from the soundboard then maybe it could be considered a soundtrack.

Hereby deemed under the intelligence of Fenchurch to be forever used: BROADWAY DITTY DISK
I really like that one a lot. Clears up a lot of the never-ending complications that seem to arise every other day. Maybe there'll be jam tomorrow...

THIS is the reason I didn't give them cash or my credit card number at the theatre.
The CD will be out mid May. Should be up on the Sh-K-Boom site before that.
I look forward to the Hi Fi whatever coming out soon
Calling it a Ditty Disc sounds like another name for a Puffy cd.

I hate to break up the "discussion" about soundtrack vs cast album, but I have seen Jenn Colella in a few things and really enjoyed her work.
Is this CD worth buying? I didn't get a chance to see the show.

I haven't heard the CD itself, but based on the show, if you're willing to accept the show for what it is - a guilty pleasure with a score built around pop/rock - I'd say it's worth it. The score isn't amazing, but it has a few catchy songs.
As for Colella's performance, I thought she was great although completely underused. "Number Five with a Bullet," her main number, is a lot of fun.

QB- I was going to pm you, but it says you don't accept pms. I definitely think this cd will be worth buying. I'm extremely excited about it. The music is very very fun. My roommate loves it, and she doesn't like many musicals. From having the demo, the cd should be great.
The songs I heard on the show's website I enjoyed very much.
