Question about Lea Salonga in Les Miserable.

I know she was in the concert DVD, because I own this, but did she ever do the role on Broadway? If so, when?

Also, while we're talking about her......How long was she with Miss Saigon?

I saw her in the London Cast around 1996 (shortly after they did the concert)

Lea Salonga was Eponine in the Broadway production from Jnuary to March 1995. I saw one of her last performances at the Imperial Theatre in March 1995, just before she had to leave to go sing "A Whole New World" at the Academy Awards.

OH, I forgot the 2nd part of the post ... I believe she was in Miss Saigon from March 1991 (previews) to January or February 1992 (don't quote me on this). Then she was back in 1998 for a return engagement, then she finished the run, didn't she? I saw her the 2nd go-round, and I have a video (ssssshhhhh!) of her final week in the show, which was the show's final week.

Oh wow, within 10 years she did it 3 times. You know, I think she looks different that she did in 1991 and even up to the les mis concert tape. Her face always made her look like a little girl, and now she looks quite different.

I don't mean to split hairs, PottstownTeacher, but I believe you're mistaken. Lea actually performed at the Academy Awards in 1993. ALADDIN was released in Nov. 1992.

She also performed in Hawaii with the tour, but I'm not 100% sure of the year.

If Aladdin was released in Nov 1992, it would be part of the 1993 Academy Awards season, arent the Academy Awards in the first half of the year?

Lea Salonga opened as Kim in MISS SAIGON on April 11, 1991 and stayed for 1 year. She came back to the Broadway Theatre for her first return engagement, which lasted from January 1999 through June 1999. She then returned on New Year's Eve 2000 to close the show, which closing took place on January 28, 2001.

Lea was in the Broadway company of Les Miz for about 3 months in 1993. I remember that she had to ask to be let out of her contract a week or two earlier than scheduled so that she could perform A WHOLE NEW WORLD with Brad Kane at the Oscars.

You know, I should have known that it was 1993 and not 1995 because I got the tickets to see LES MIZ when I saw CRAZY FOR YOU and the was January of 1993. Then I remember fighting with the telecharge person because we had a blizzard in PA the weekend I was supposed to see LES MIZ, so I bit*hed and moaned and got themn to exchange my tickets to another performance, which was for the next week, right before she left. I also should have remembered this because ALADDIN was the first movie I saw with my new best friends when I started college in the fall of 1992. Oh how the years fly! So thanks for pointing that out! I am humbled!
