Seems you can now buy tickets through 6/21 instead of 6/14?

I think it will extend through the end of Summer given how well it's doing. Perhaps they're doing some test.

FWIW, on Cosmopolitan's Group Therapy, which was likely taped Feb 6, Nicholas described Chess as "long term". That could of course mean 'through June', but it sounded like longer to me.

CHESS will probably have one more piecemeal extension, as the Imperial needs to be free by Labor Day.

I smell a buried lede here. Okay, I’ll bite.
Free for what exactly? I figure the principal contracts are likely up come Labor Day, but they’ve been really killing it at the box office (nut is roughly $900K, and they’ve cleared it nearly every week and then some) and awards season will give them some renewed exposure and maybe an award or two. Unless sales tank or they can’t find replacements, I can’t imagine that CHESS would get bucked for something else.

Sales are starting to slip a bit, show'll close at the end of Lea's contract, and DREAMGIRLS takes the Imperial this fall.

Acquaintance involved with the show says they specifically want to return to its original home (like CHESS did) for its first Broadway revival.

Right, but we can't always get what we want. What if "Chess" wants something different?

And that's nice to wish for but with Chess doing so well, the cast will probably stay at least a year. I think the revival of Dreamgirls could go anywhere similar.

Yes my assumption has always been if the show did well they would run a year as i assume they contracted the leads for a year.
Also a couple of weeks ago Hannah was doing an IG live and she was asked if she was taking any vacation time and she said in June. While some might assume she said that as its currently running to June, she said it in such a way that it my assumption was the show will be going past June.

CHESS has become a blockbuster by today’s standards. Even in its softer weeks, it’s still clearing its $900K nut by at least 30-40%. It’s exceeded all expectations insofar as to become this season’s version of the Merrily narrative (initially maligned flop gets a makeover and hits paydirt).
Awards season, even if it doesn’t win, will give it a boost and short of the show absolutely plummeting or not finding suitable replacements as needed (I doubt Nick is going anywhere - he holds on to jobs he loves), it’s gonna be tough tits for DREAMGIRLS.

Let’s not forgot: the Shuberts are seeking to make major renovations to the Imperial, as well. There was a public hearing about their plans before the Landmark Preservation Board in Dec of 2024 and another is coming up just next week. Not yet approved, but certainly on the mind of the owners.

From the article:
The plans put forward by the Shuberts earlier this month include significant restoration work in the interior. But by far the most exciting detail is the intended annexation of the large empty lot next to the Imperial in order to construct a new ticket lobby, commercial space, and, most importantly, new bathrooms.
Isn’t that vacant lot about to become Magic Mike Live?

Magic Mike is playing at the old Copacabana. it’s only a couple of doors down from the Lena Horn theatre
