Wow - Mimi got a new outfit for Out Tonight. Meow indeed.

Ok, but does that look too light and fluffy to anyone else? Isn't rent supposed to be gritty and dark? Maybe it's just a bad trailer, I'm hoping.

I think that is just Mimi in the club...not Out Tonight.
Wow, I just cried watching that...I wish Jonathan was here to see this.

I have no sound at work, but I assume "Season's of Love" was playing right? Looks good so far.

Trust me, I am sure it gets dark...knowing what will happen to these characters is what makes you cry.

Is Tracie Thoms singing in Seasons of Love instead of a soloist?

they couldn't do the movie without the blue pants ... could they?
okay i'm sorry for anything i said about the trailer. when half the screen isn't cut off, it does give me chills.

I am almost positive they did use the blue pants. There are pics from the filming with Rosario in blue pants.

It certainly looks like an episode of FELICITY or a feel-good miniseries.

I think Jonathan Larson would be mortified.

Yeah, and Jesse gets the other solo. I don't know why, I guess just to give your stars more time in the spotlight. Or maybe to showcase Tracie and prove why she's in the movie instead of someone with more experience. *shrug*

umgeoboy, i thought the same thing when i first watched it. to the normal viewer that watches it, they probably won't notice that someone dies or the tie around april's arm (which someone pointed out but I still don't see it -- anyone?). since this is just the teaser they probably don't want to give too much away, in future trailers they probably will put some gritty stuff in. i really thing that the contrast between the light and dark subjects is what is going to sell this movie. that being said, i really think that some scenes of angel very sick / in the hospital ... or although this may be too late in the movie to show, mimi very sick - or even of april in the bathtub would be really key in cluing people in to the grittyness that is also involved.

I don't know. Does anyone here really think RENT was ever edgy? It's an pop opera retelling of La Boheme with catchy 80s music. What were you expecting? Outtakes from REQUIEM FOR A DREAM?

That was fantastic, I just watched it twice and grinned immensely the whole time. Everyone looks great, the costumes, the few scenes they showed, I think it was a great trailer, showing both light times and dark ones. Showing the cemetary but for those who aren't familiar not knowing who's funeral it is. Loved that they put a Maureen and Joanne kiss in the trailer, really puts the subject matter out there for all to see. I'm soooo excited!

it seemed a little light at parts, but nothing too bad. i am sure it will all make sense in the actual movie

cutting the soloists makes sense...sad as it is, movie audiences aren't good at watching unfeatured characters and paying attention...and yes they kept the blue pants, that's not out tonight, they added a scene in the cat scratch club (dunno if it's a flashback or not). I'm hoping the reason for the semi-Felicity feel is the music. Try to envision it with no sound, or a different song, visually it's true to RENT. let's all cross our fingers!! :)

It does make sense...I just wanted to make sure that was Tracie.

Why would they feature a bag lady singing "Seasons of Love" like they do in the play? That would make no sense.

The bag lady is not singing Seasons of Love, lol...the same person yes...

Take away the music and it looks like a romantic comedy. It looks okay, but I think this falls under the 'niche market' category.
