StateofJade is true in saying not to trust the radio. this isnt limited to MelB. all the previews/commericals on radio/tv etc. are edited. you CANT base it on what you hear. you can judge if you like the song and want to see the show depending on the style but if you go expecting to here the exact thing you heard on the radio you most likely wont get what you expected. and if im not mistaken the person who originally posted, KarenWalker, heard the radio liked what she/he heard and wanted to heard and wanted to hear a LIVE verson. You may find that the live version is better than the recorded in some cases. but they are ALWAYS different. Plus, you need to take into consideration that she had a chance to do many takes, listen to it, fix it, etc. So that is probably the BEST stuff they had of her.

I've gotta say, the clip didn't sell me on Mel B. I'm hoping that with time, her voice will mature, but like ^ said, the radio version is usually the best of what was there in the recording studio after numerous takes. (Notice how the Spice Girls themselves sounded better on the CDs and nearly unbearable live? And this is my judgment from whatever live show they put on TV.)

Here's my problem with what I heard in the clip.
Her voice is too thin.
She can't belt it in Out Tonight.
And you know, there are certain OBC CDs where you can feel the energy emanating from the performers. You can't feel that here. An example is that evil John Stevens kid on American Idol. Sings the notes in the correct pitch, but he just "ain't feelin' it, dawg." (Sorry, Randy Jackson moment.)
It seems like she's trying too hard to control her voice.

I wonder how her acting will be. I mean, she was alright in Spice World...playing...herself.

Well, I'm seeing the Sunday matinee of the show. I'm fairly indifferent to this particular casting, and I'm trying to withold judgment, but after hearing that clip, if that's the best Mel B can offer, I'm a bit scared.

(PS. MelB4Ever, you'll be welcome on this board even as a MelB fan, as long as you stop going on the defensive every time someone says something even remotely un-positive of Mel. Ease up on coming out guns ablazing, and you'll probably develop more credibility, even as a non-Broadway fan.)

Ya completely agreeing with Tiff here. This is a board that is supposed to RESPECT peoples different thoughts, and since you haven't even been on this board that long, it would be good of you to keep your defensiveness on a low key. Yes, your opinions are worthwhile. Just don't pretend you know it all because you definetly dont. All youve really done is proven that you are immature.

Actually you need to grow up MelB4Ever. You are only on these boards to defend Melanie all of us here are entitled to our own opinions, wether they be positive or negative. When something negative is said you flame us. If you respect our opinions on Melanie I'm sure the respect will be reciprocated. I think in the clip she sounds awesome! I'm sure she'll kick ass up on stage, i wish i had time to go see her, do they have monday performances? she's a talented woman and i wish her all the luck! Shes doing what she loves, good for her:) Theres so many jealous people on this board, it's crazy, i know for a fact people i work with and other performers do come on this board for a good laugh because everyone thinks they know it all.....and most of the time they dont.....But..Thanks again:)

Not for nothing MelB4Ever, but the fact that I'm tired of both you and your attitude is my opinion. So don't try and preach to me that I don't know about opinions. Look at how long I've been here and then come talk to me. True, I was once a Spice Girls fan, and I'm sure Melanie is talented, but the fact that you have to resort to utter rudeness is just callow. That's not how we do it here on BroadwayWorld.com. Yes. BROADWAYworld.com. This site is about BROADWAY, not the life and times of Melanie Brown. I'm sure people wouldn't be so rude to you if you weren't so rude to them. This is my opinion. I have no opinion whatsoever on Melanie. I haven't seen her, I probably never will, I don't care. No I don't approve of stunt casting, but I do not judge her talent when I have never seen her perform.

Now that that is said, the reason I am *rude* to MelB4ever is not because I disagree with her opinions, because as I said, I don't have one. It is because this poster refuses to respect ANYTHING that anyone else posts if it does not agree with her own opinions. She *says* she understands the difference between facts and opinions, but she doesn't post that way. She resorts to personal attacks and utter rudeness for anyone who says anything negative about Mel B, and when people point out her "posting cruelty," she flames us back with immature and hypocritical statements.

Not to mention that this is a BROADWAY board and MelB4ever appears to only be here to rave about her idol and bash anyone who disagrees.

You belong on a Spice Girls site, not here. People LIKE Mel B there, so you won't have to worry about people disagreeing with you.

First of all I'm not a she, I'm a he so please get it right. Second, The reason I refuse to respect is because I beleive its a joke, not an opinion.
