RENT 30th Anniversary Concert - 10/26 at Richard Rodgers Theatre — Page 3

Obviously, they mean in person tickets versus people watching the live steam. There were no box office tickets at the Rodgers. The friends and family of donors (I am one) had first dibs hours earlier and they bought them all. That's the true tea of this whole thing. Shady.

Now watch their livestream have issues due to their lack of advance preparation. 2 hours later and their website is still down. 🤣🤣🤣

If all this is true, I’m very reluctant to donate to the organization going forward without more transparency to the model. Yes, they can sell however they like to raise the most money (as they should as a not-for-profit), but transparency should be key here.
I'd be completely fine if they disclosed this event was happening but is already sold-out to high raising donors: at least that would be direct and honest. But to maintain the farce that tickets would be available at noon is dishonest and boarders on running afoul of fair sales and marketing.
Didn’t think I’d score tickets for this anyway, but this all smells so bad - especially for an organization that depends on good faith to keep it afloat.

Someone on Reddit posted a link to a ticketing page that said sold out. It looks like that was the page that would have been used for selecting and buying tickets. There was also a link to an Upcoming Events page. I was able to access those pages even when the Rent 30 page was still giving an error. I’m wondering if some people knew about that and clicked through that way and were able to get tickets while the “main” page was still down?

well, if this announcement is any indication on who we can expect participating, don't look for either Idina or Daphne in October.....

First off, this is in August and not in NYC and not a major big event ON Broadway - its a 3 day festival in Kingston, NY. I think it’s safe to assume this October concert at the Richard Rodgers Theatre will have the full original Broadway cast in attendance as it’s THE official celebration anniversary event for RENT with major Broadway luminaries attending. Red Carpet - the whole sheebang.

I sure hope so, but i thought i read earlier in this post that some people were questioning 'members of the the original cast' when this NYC event in October was announced, and who was or wasn't going to participate. I was just curious on if this august festival should be considered 'an out of town' tryout. I do hope i am wrong.........

Just like Brody saying "As clearly stated on their Instagram post they imply there was an in-person sale" (and not deleting or editing it) he's wrong. Again. The concert (that was sold out well before noon) will not feature all the original cast which is why all the publications say “original cast members and a bevy of special guests."
The good news is the show’s original music director, Tim Weil will return, leading the entire original Rent band: Kenny Brescia, Stephanie Mack, Jeff Potter and Daniel A. Weiss.

Has anyone heard of or seen a single person who was able to buy a ticket today?

No. I'm bet donors did not sell this out. They are holding seats for certain people who will pay the price general public would have or not pay at all. This isn't a good look for the ECF.

Sometimes BCEFA or The Actor's Fund (or fill in the blank other non-profit) put on their big fund raiser for the year and they can't give the tickets away.
This event sold out! At very high prices. They don't owe anyone the chance to buy ffordable seats.
They knew it was sold out - they made arrangements for the streaming option and had the press release ready to go. And they will make even more money off those $30 tickets
We all had the opportunity to donate lots of money to BCEFA weeks ago to secure tickets.
They will have rush tickets - probably the first row available for the public. 10 to 20 people will get lucky there. Hopefully it will be an in person lottery at the theater the day of the event.
I'll put my name in a hat.

It’s nice to see you are still the most condescending person on this site. It’s like you just revel in being so.

They just said it was a lottery. They didn't mention anything more than that. I hope it's not in person because that takes a lot of people out of the running who work and can't make it to the theater to submit for it

This is a fundraiser and public tickets were never available. That's why no one here has confirmed being able to get one without being a donor.
This was all about money and who donates to them. Don't expect a ton of lottery seats without a donation either.
