They added three more shows this week, dropped overall attendance by 12.2%, drove the average price paid for a ticket all the way up to $36, and went from bringing in an average of $20,081.40 per show up to $20,370.25 per show! Yowza...
The show is a big success according to those who actually attended. Unfortunately more people should have attended. It is what it is. I'd rather have a critical success.
If it were in the Hayes it would be a sold out run. Someone said it was in too big a theater and they are right but it was the only one available at the time. The producers consider it a success. That's all that matters.
The latest revival of On The Town was also in too big a theater, contributing in part to its shortened run. It was without a doubt, one of the most exuberant productions I’ve ever experienced and was a critical success. However, it is still rightfully considered to be a flop because it struggled at the box office and didn’t recoup.
Isn't the capacity of the Walter Kerr just under a thousand? So how does an AVERAGE of 562 tix sold a night = a sell out at the Kerr? (Even the Hayes seats more than 562 - although not much - it still would NOT be a sell out.)
The producers would prefer a financial success. It's their money.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

How do you know the producers consider it a success? And please give me their contact information, because I know a small theatre company that could use some of the money that the Producers seem all too happy with part with.

I'm guessing MassiveMeGo is conceding that this was a show that shouldn't have been in a Broadway theatre?
It still would’ve made $162,000 last week though even in a smaller theater. Since you have now pretty much confirmed you’re attached to the show’s production team, what is it’s weekly nut?

Nope not saying that. I'm saying that the 4,500 seats sold this week at smaller theaters would have been a sold out show."
There are no current Broadway theatres where 562 tickets would be a sold out show. So, the "smaller theatres" would have to be other than Broadway theatres.
And it’s only filling those seats by deeply discounting/comping those tickets. You do know people would be much more generous toward this show on here if you weren’t so intent on spinning every damning factoid in the show’s favor, right?

Oh so the collective you hates the show because I don't hate it? Gotcha.
